8:15pm (Race 6) Delta Downs – Flashy Premo 5/2 (2-star play)
Race 6 at Delta Downs is a five furlong Claiming contest which features seven geldings going to post for a $12,000 purse and I like the chances of Flashy Premo who will be suited by this drop back in trip.
He showed good speed over an extended six furlongs but just got tired in the closing stages so if he is quick out of the gates this time around then he will take some beating under Paulina Ramirez.
8:43pm (Race 7) Delta Downs – It’s A Bird 5/1 (1-star play)
Andrea Ali’s It’s A Bird is a two-time winner at Delta Downs and comes into this $20,000 Claimer with every chance of adding a third to that tally.
This five-year-old gelding won an Allowance here back in March which was a hard fought victory over a competitive field and he stays further than this extended seven furlong distance so expect to see him finishing fast and late in the stretch.
9:11pm (Race 8) Delta Downs – Doctor Leo 7/2 (2-star play)
The penultimate event at Delta Downs is a competitive Allowance race over a mile on the dirt in which a case can be made for a fair few in this field but none more so than the gelding in stall four, Doctor Leo, who is a dual winner in this grade at this course.
Both of his wins were over a sprint trip but he has been shaping as though he will appreciate this extra distance of a mile and he comes into this in good form so I am expecting a big run.
9:41pm (Race 9) Delta Downs – You Have No Idea 4/1 (2-star play)
A field of nine two-year-old fillies line up in the finale at Delta Downs and there’s some really nice types on paper here with preference for You Have No Idea who has two second placed efforts from three starts and can break her maiden.
The form of those runs is good enough to have a say here and that racecourse experience could prove vital so she is the one to side with in the finale.
