Horse Racing picks for Delaware Park race track on Wednesday, September 29: Salute Captain Thunder

Horse racing at Belmont Park

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Wednesday, including at Delaware Park race track. We are still on fire with our picks, having nailed 73 winners in our last 176 races dating back to early August while profiting 97.7 units during this stretch. Here are 4 runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races on Tuesday. It’s time to dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.

3:15 pm Delaware Park (Race 5) – Wine To Roses 20/1

Race 5 at Delaware Park is a $22,000 Maiden Claimer over a mile and a sixteenth on the turf and this one can go to Wine To Roses. This gelding didn’t show a great deal on debut here just over a month ago but he did improve from that when, on his second start, he finished third of eight over an extended seven furlongs. He was staying on all the way to the line that day and this step up in trip should be ideal.

3:45 pm Delaware Park (Race 6) – Misty Taste 6/1

Misty Taste is an improving filly who is having her first start at Delaware Park and she can make that a winning one in this $42,000 Allowance Optional Claiming contest, Race 6. Claudio Gonzalez’s daughter of Verrazano has really been thriving as a four-year-old having notched up four victories so far this year with her penultimate run at Monmouth Park being her best yet. She won in this company by no less than five and three quarter lengths over a mile and a sixteenth and I see no reason why she can’t win again, especially as this drop back to a mile is expected to suit.

4:15 pm Delaware Park (Race 7) – Captain Thunder 8/1

An open looking $22,000 Claimer over an extended mile on the turf is Race 7 at Delaware Park and, Captain Thunder, who has gone well here in the past, can gain his third career victory. This gelding has hit the board on multiple occasions, two of which include two fine second placed efforts at this course and, although he hasn’t won for well over a year, it’s only a matter of time before he gets his head in front again.

4:45 pm Delaware Park (Race 8) – Amazing Alex 10/1

The eighth and final race on Delaware Park’s Wednesday card is a $38,000 Maiden Special Weight for two-year-olds over an extended five furlongs and it’s the horse in stall six, Amazing Alex, who can shed that maiden tag. In his debut, this colt finished a brilliant third of ten in the First State Dash Stakes over this course and distance and he was keeping on all the way to the line so, with improvement expected, and that experience under his belt, he should win this.
