2:30 pm ET Delaware Park (Race 5) – Wicked Finn 4/1 (1-star play)
Race 5 at Delaware Park is a $28,000 Starter Allowance on the turf course and I like the chances of Blake Kelly’s Wicked Finn who showed a determined attitude to win over course and distance last time out.
He battled well to win by a neck under today’s jockey Daniel Centeno and will be very hard to beat if turning up in the same kind of form here.
3:00 pm ET Delaware Park (Race 6) – Burgee 10/1 (1-star play)
A field of eight older horses are set to go to post for this Starter Optional Claiming event with the likes of Mystery Mo and Nolo Contesto likely to be vying for favoritism but one who can go well at a price is Lacey Gaudet’s Burgee.
Carol Cedeno’s mount easily won a Claimer here back in May and impressed in a recent four furlong breeze so it would be no surprise should he hit the board at double figure odds.
3:30 pm ET Delaware Park (Race 7) – Marathoner 8/1 (1-star play)
Marya Montoya’s Marathoner is a speedy son of More Than Ready who represents good value in this five furlong Allowance Optional Claiming contest.
This four-year-old colt has very good gate speed so he could be hard to catch if getting himself into a forward position early under a jockey in Ruben Silvera who was on board for his latest victory at Belmont Park.
4:00 pm ET Delaware Park (Race 8) – Proper Attire 7/2 (2-star play)
The finale at Delaware Park is one for the female division and this Starter Optional Claimer over an extended five furlongs on the dirt course is a tricky affair as a case can be made for a good number of this field but I would look no further than the five-year-old mare, Proper Attire.
She’s a serial winner with eleven wins from thirty-one career starts and should find this assignment easier than recent outings where she finished just out of the frame.
