There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Saturday, including at Del Mar race track. We have hit 21 winners in our last 49 races, profiting 30.4 units during this hot stretch. Let’s keep it rolling! Here are 5 runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. It’s time to dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.
5:00pm Del Mar (Race 1) – Mirasol 5/2
Arrogate filly Mirasol is the only horse in the opening race on the card with experience and she can put that to good use to get off the mark at the second time of asking in this maiden special weight over five-and-one-half furlongs. Mike Smith’s mount showed plenty of ability when finishing third over this track and trip when making her debut last month and she has since demonstrated her wellbeing with some solid morning works for trainer Bob Baffert.
6:34 pm Del Mar (Race 4) – Kamui 9/5
Trainer Bob Baffert can double up with his representative in the fourth, newcomer Kamui looking the pick. The selection has the services of top jockey Joel Rosario and with the son of Quality Road having shown good form in the mornings in recent weeks including when delivering a 59.20 when working over five furlongs from the gate seven days ago he looks up to delivering a victory at the first time of asking with a gate four draw no issue.
8:04 pm Del Mar (Race 7) – Mo Forza 8/5
The selection has been in impressive form since breaking his maiden at Santa Anita back in September 2019 winning five of his six starts with the sole defeat coming when shipping to Florida for the Pegasus World Cup Turf at Gulfstream Park in January last year. Given a break since winning the City of Hope Stakes over a mile at Santa Anita in October last year Flavien Prat’s mount can return with a victory on his belated seasonal reappearance.
9:03 pm Del Mar (Race 9) – Going Global 9/5
The ex-Irish-trained filly was bidding to complete a six-timer when suffering a defeat in going down by half a length in the Grade 2 San Clemente Stakes over a mile here just under a month ago. The selection had earlier taken out the Grade 3 Honeymoon Stakes over a mile-and-one-eighth at Santa Anita in May and she is taken to return to winning ways back at that distance for trainer Philip D’Amato with regular pilot Flavien Prat again in the saddle.
9:33 pm Del Mar (Race 10) – Express Train 3/1
John Shirreffs’ charge is regularly competitive in graded stakes company including when twice placed at the highest level this year in the Santa Anita Handicap and the Hollywood Gold Cup over today’s mile-and-one-quarter trip at Santa Anita. The four-year-old son of Union Rags looks capable of recording a first Grade 1 success with Juan Hernandez in the saddle following a half-length victory when racing close to the pace in the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap over a mile-and-one-sixteenth last month.
