He demonstrated solid form in maiden special weights to date including in three starts on the New York circuit since unseating his rider over this trip at Belmont Park in May. He faded late on when trying to make all over a mile-and-three-sixteenths when five lengths fourth at Saratoga last month. He delivered a good two lengths third when racing from off the pace over a mile-and-three-eighths at the same venue prior and looks up to scoring with Manny Franco up.
2:41 pm ET Colonial Downs (Race 3) – Malibu Mike 5/1 (1-star play)
He’s been improving with racing having shown good form in two starts prior to a two length victory in a seven furlong maiden special weight contest here last month. He had previously finished a good two-and-a-half-lengths second having raced in fourth early on in a maiden special weight over track and trip in July. With plenty of potential pace in here, the son of Malibu Moon is expected to be able to put his proven stamina to good use to complete a double.
3:09 pm ET Colonial Downs (Race 4) – Battle Bling 7/5 (2-star play)
She has shown good form in recent times, including when fourth in the Grade 1 La Troienne Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Churchill Downs in May. She was the runner-up in both subsequent starts, most recently when beaten 12L in a sloppy track renewal of the mile-and-a-quarter Grade 2 Delaware Handicap at Delaware Park. Those efforts are a cut above anything else on offer here, and she looks up to registering a fourth career win and a second since joining the Rob Atras barn.
