He broke his maiden at the fifth attempt when battling to a head success in a similar contest over the same track and trip a month ago. Recent works are nothing to write home about, but having drawn the rail here he looks capable of doubling his career tally with Gerardo Corrales up.
2:30 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 4) – Cotton Candy Annie 8/5 (2-star play)
She finished on the board in three of her five starts in maiden special weight races including when third, beaten seven-and-a-half-lengths in a mile event here at the end of September. She raced from the front when beaten four lengths when fourth in a turf event at Kentucky Downs previously and with the extra sixteenth here unlikely to inconvenience the daughter of Sharp Azteca is selected to break her maiden dropped in grade with regular rider Brian Hernandez booked to ride.
3:31 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 6) – Awesome Aaron 2/1 (2-star play)
The winner of a maiden special weight event over seven furlongs at Aqueduct in March Chad Brown’s charge put a below par effort over a mile when bumped badly in the backstretch here behind him when scoring by half-a-length in a mile allowance optional claimer at Monmouth Park. Given a break since finishing a well beaten fourth in a similar contest at the same venue in August and is taken to register a third career success switched to claimer.
