The son of Medaglia d’Oro has shown good form in meadow special weight company, including when 3rd over 9 furlongs at Saratoga on his penultimate start. He gets a drop in grade today having raced with more restraint than is usually the case prior to finishing 12 lengths 4th over a mile at this venue in September.
The 3-year-old impressed when working at Churchill Downs recently and is taken to break his maiden in this event now he drops to a maiden claimer.
4:33 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 8) – Mo Bills 4/1 (2-star play)
Trained by Michael Stidham, this filly took 5 starts to break her maiden but did so in impressive fashion when registering a 3.25-length victory over a mile on a soft turf course at Delaware Park at the start of August.
She went on to complete a double when racing prominently prior to recording a victory in an allowance contest over the same trip at Kentucky Downs the following month. The Uncle Mo filly looks up to completing a treble.
5:35 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 10) – Honest Opinion 2/1 (2-star play)
This two-year-old colt showed ability when registering a 2nd-place finish when making his debut at Indiana Downs in September. He was beaten 13.75 lengths in a mile maiden special weight contest on that occasion, but he is expected to have improved for that experience.
Brad Cox’s son of West Coast heads here on the back of a 1:01.20 5-furlong work at Indiana Downs last week and is taken to break his maiden at the second attempt.
