12:45 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 1) – Locally Owned 7/5 (2-star play)
Locally Owned has demonstrated plenty of promise in his first 4 starts since joining the Tom Morley barn last September. Those efforts included a 5th in an allowance optional claimer over a mile and 3/16ths at Aqueduct in February.
He built on those efforts with a 1 1/4 length success off a low weight in a $25,000 starter event over 11 furlongs at the same venue the following month. The son of Distorted Humour has won twice at Churchill Downs and looks up to completing a double.
4:19 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 8) – Scarlet Fusion 2/1 (2-star play)
This son of Curlin has been in good form since joining trainer Joe Sharp, including when winning 2 of his last 3 starts.
Both of those victories have come over the mile-and-a-half trip he tackles today including by 3/4 length in the Grade 3 John B Connally Turf Cup at Sam Houston Race Park at the end of January. The return to the main track is no issue and he is taken to return form a break with a victory.
4:52 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 9) – Lady Hollywood 2/1 (2-star play)
The daughter of Havana Grey showed good form when trained in Europe, winning 4 times including in the 5-furlong Group 3 Prix d’Arenberg at Longchamp last September. She subsequently delivered a respectable 6-length 5th in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint over 5 1/2 furlongs at Keeneland in November.
She debuted for her current trainer Wesley Ward with a half-length 2nd in a Listed stakes over the same course and distance last month and is selected to go one better today.
