11:30 am Churchill Downs (Race 3) – Whisper Not 7/2 (2-star play)
Showed winning form at Graded level in 2021 when taking out a Grade 3 contest at Gold Gate Fields in April of that year. Relatively lightly-raced since that however and was making his first start since last August when one-and-three-quarter-lengths fifth over seven-and-a-half-furlongs in a Gulfstream Park allowance optional claiming event at the start of last month. Making his first start since a gelding operation that day and is taken to deliver a fifth win in 18 career starts.
1:26 pm Churchill Downs (Race 6) – Shantisara 2/1 (2-star play)
A Grade 1 winner in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland in October 2021 the five-year-old has made just the four starts since including when winning the Grade 2 Hillsborough Stakes over a mile-and-one-eighth at Tampa Bay Downs in March. Chad Brown’s mare has advertised her well-being with a string of works on dirt in recent weeks and the Coulsty filly, who is a versatile sort tactics wise is taken to record a second victory of the year.
2:09 pm Churchill Downs (Race 7) – Munnys Gold 6/5 (2-star play)
The $300,000 yearling purchase made the perfect start to her career when winning by a wide margin in a five furlong maiden special weight at Monmouth Park in June last year. The daughter of Munnings missed the rest of her two-year-old campaign but has maintained her unbeaten record in two starts this time around including when winning her first stakes contest at Tampa Bay Downs in March. Looks up to registering a fourth consecutive victory stepping up to Graded company.
3:03 pm Churchill Downs (Race 8) – Caravel 4/5 (3-star play)
The 6-year-old is the winner of her last three starts including by a head in the Grade 2 Shakertown Stakes over 5-and-a-half-furlongs on a good turf course at Keeneland last month. The pick made all the running that day having surprised some better fancied rivals in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint over the same course and distance in November. A wide draw isn’t ideal here, but she can get across to the rail to deliver win number 14.
5:51 pm Churchill Downs (Race 11) – Wet Paint 5/2 (2-star play)
The daughter of Blame is unbeaten in three starts at three with all three coming at stakes level. The most recent of those saw the filly come from off the pace to register a two-and-a-half-length victory in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Oaklawn Park at the start of last month. The extra distance here should prove no issue and she looks capable of completing a four-timer with regular pilot Flavien Prat in the saddle.
