Race 7 at Churchill Downs is the Bourbon Trail Stakes which is the first of four consecutive stakes races and I like the colt drawn in gate seven, Big Data.
This son of Cloud Computing has been in great form of late. He has recorded form figures of 12211 from his last five starts in competitive races and has enough ability to make his presence felt here.
9:39 pm Churchill Downs (Race 8) – Mount Up 7/2 (1-star play)
The Harrods Creek Stakes is a seven furlong dirt contest in which Loyal Company is likely to prove tough to beat but one who can come out on top is Todd Pletcher’s Mount Up.
He showed grit and determination to win a mile Allowance event at Saratoga last month and, with a similar effort, he can go close with this drop back in trip being sure to suit.
10:11 pm Churchill Downs (Race 9) – Nomadic Pride 10/1 (1-star play)
Thomas Amoss’s Nomadic Pride is coming along nicely this campaign and this lovely daughter of Flatter looks set to run a big race in the Seneca Overnight Stakes.
She recorded a career best speed figure when easily winning an Allowance at Ellis Park last month and has since put in some solid workouts at this course so it would not surprise should she hit the board at a price.
10:42 pm Churchill Downs (Race 10) – Yesternight 3/1 (2-star play)
A field of nine three-year-old fillies are set to go to post for the Grade 3 Dogwood Stakes and the likely favourite Yesternight will take all the beating here.
We have yet to see the best of James Graham’s mount who comes into this off the back of a good second behind Foggy Night at Parx and she can make all of the running from her inside draw.
