Horse Racing picks for Belmont Park race track on Thursday, May 12: Anonymously can make a name for herself

4:09 pm ET Belmont Park (Race 3) – Brilliant Brooks Evens (3-star play)

Brilliant Brooks has won and placed from 3 starts at this venue and was claimed out of the Rob Atras barn by current trainer Horacio De Paz following a 3-length victory in a $20,000 claiming contest over  6 1/2 furlongs on a muddy Aqueduct track in February.

He was a fair 4th in the Peeping Tom Stakes over the same track and trip in his debut for his current trainer and looks capable of registering a victory on his first starter allowance start in more than a year.  

5:13 pm ET Belmont Park (Race 5) – Anonymously 5/2 (2-star play)

Anonymously has proved to be a disappointment in recent starts, including when finishing down the field in a couple of starts at Gulfstream Park during the winter. Her most recent outing saw her finish 10th of 12 over a mile in a $35,000 claiming contest at the end of January.

However, having won 2 of her 4 starts over this 6-furlong distance she looks capable of returning from a break with a victory switched to New York by trainer Michael Maker.

6:45 pm ET Belmont Park (Race 8) – Key Point 4/5 (3-star play)

Key Point impressed when breaking his maiden by 3 1/4 lengths in a maiden special weight over 6 furlongs at Saratoga in his debut last August. He was absent after that until returning with a nose 2nd in a  6 1/2 furlong allowance contest on a muddy main track at Aqueduct at the start of last month.

He has delivered some solid breezes at this venue subsequently, including a 49.08 4-furlong work last week, and is taken to double his career tally as he steps up half a furlong in distance.
