There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Saturday, including at Belmont Park race track. We are still absolutely on fire with our plays, having profited 146.15 units dating back to Aug. 5 after going 7-for-8 on Thursday and Friday (up 32.4 units on those two days). Here are 5 runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races on Saturday. It’s time to dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.
1:41 pm Belmont Park (Race 3) – Lia Marina 5/2
The Christophe Clement-trained juvenile showed plenty of ability when finishing third in a maiden special weight over five-and-one-half-furlongs on turf at Saratoga when making her debut in August. She shaped as if a step up in distance would suit on that occasion and the daughter of Uncle Mo can get off the mark at the second time of asking upped half-a-furlong in trip following a 51.85 four furlong work on the turf training track at Saratoga earlier this month.
2:43 pm Belmont Park (Race 5) – Excursionniste 2/1
Placed on both previous starts Mark Hennig’s colt looks the pick on form having finished a good second when beaten half-a-length by an all the way winner having raced from off the pace in a mile-and-one-16th maiden special weight on turf here a month ago. Jose Leczano takes the ride once more and the son of Tourist is taken to get off the mark at the third time of asking for owners Little Blue Bird Stables LLC.
4:21 pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – Tamahere 9/5
Chad Brown’s charge showed plenty of ability in France winning twice and she made a big impact on her US debut when winning the Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes at this venue just over a year ago. Placed at the highest level since the daughter of Wootton Bassett was the wide margin winner of the Listed Violet Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Monmouth Park last month and she is taken to register a second graded stakes success in this contest.
4:52 pm Belmont Park (Race 9) – Public Sector 5/2
A disappointment at the Breeders’ Cup last November the three-year-old has won three of his five starts this campaign including in graded stakes company on his two most recent starts. Latest of those came when racing close to the pace prior to winning by a length in the Grade 3 Saranac Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Saratoga and stepping up slightly in trip he can complete a hat-trick with Irad Ortiz in the saddle for trainer Chad Brown.
5:23 pm Belmont Park (Race 10) – Kant Hurry Love 5/1
Placed on all three previous starts the daughter of Kantharos performed well when finishing a length second in a six furlong turf contest at this track last month. Raced on the speed on that occasion but had been ridden with more restraint on her two previous outings. Comes into this on the back of a 48.65 four furlong dirt workout here earlier this month and looks up to breaking her maiden at the fourth time of asking.
