There is plenty of great horse-racing action to look forward to across America on Saturday, including at Belmont Park, where the valuable Man o’ War Stakes is the highlight of a top-quality card.
We have been on fire with our picks for a long time now and are up +275.85 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!
Here are our best bets for today’s action at Belmont Park.
2:05 pm Belmont Park (Race 3) – Bella Sofia 4/5 (3-star play)
Successful at the highest level in the Test Stakes over 7 furlongs at Saratoga last August, this daughter of Awesome Patriot went on to register a Grade 2 victory when making all in the Gallant Bloom Handicap over this course and distance the following month.
She proved a disappointment when finishing only 4th in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint at Del Mar in November, but she looks up to resuming winning ways on her seasonal reappearance.
3:06 pm Belmont Park (Race 5) – Chateau 5/2 (2-star play)
Chateau delivered a number of triple-digit speed figures last year, including when triumphing by 3 1/2 lengths in the Listed Gravesend Stakes over 6 furlongs on the main track at Aqueduct in December.
He disappointed when finishing runner-up, beaten 5 1/2 lengths by today’s rival Officiating in the Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap at the same venue first up in this campaign, but looks up to reversing that form after an impressive 48.01 4-furlong breeze on a muddy track at Belmont last weekend.
4:46 pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – Yibir Evens (3-star play)
Yibir recorded a valuable win in the Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes over 1 1/2 miles on a firm track at Belmont in September and followed up in the Breeders’ Cup Turf over the same distance at Del Mar.
He has been runner-up on both starts this year including at Newmarket (UK) in a Group 2 contest at the end of last month, and the return to this venue for the valuable Man o’ War Stakes should see him registering a 7th career success with regular pilot William Buick up.
5:19 pm Belmont Park (Race 9) – Set Sail 7/2 (2-star play)
Set Sail debuted with a good 3rd behind 2 subsequent winners in a 7-furlong maiden special weight at Santa Anita in February. Beaten 6 lengths on that occasion, he made no mistake upped to an extended mile when drawing 7 1/2 lengths clear of his 5 rivals at the same venue a month later.
He has shown up well in the mornings of late and is taken to provide trainer Richard Mandella with a first victory in this Grade 3 contest.
5:50 pm Belmont Park (Race 10) – Rougir Evens (3-star play)
Rougir recorded a Group 1 victory when taking the mile-and-a-quarter Prix de l’Opera on a heavy track at Longchamp on Arc weekend last October, and while she could finish only 7th, beaten 7 1/2 lengths in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Del Mar subsequently, she sets the standard on form.
She is taken to make a winning debut for trainer Chad Brown, who completed a hat-trick of wins in this race when Rushing Fall took the 2020 running.
