There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Belmont Park race track. Here are 4 runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. It’s time to dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.
2:04 pm Belmont Park (Race 3) – Graded On A Curve 7/2
Race 3 on Friday’s Belmont Park card is a very intriguing $125,000 Stakes race over a mile and an eighth on the turf in which a case can be made for most of the field but it may be worth siding with Chad Brown’s Graded On A Curve who has won three times here and can make another bold bid for glory. This son of Noble Mission has won a Maiden Special Weight, Allowance and an Allowance Optional Claimer around the twists and turns of Belmont Park and he should come on a great deal from his recent fourth in a Black Type event at Saratoga, which was his first run for nine months.
3:38 pm Belmont Park (Race 6) – Immokalee 7/2
The $90,000 Maiden Special Weight at Belmont Park, Race 6, is an open looking affair and I like the look of William Mott’s Immokalee, who shaped with great promise on debut and will appreciate this step up in trip for his second start. This son of Curlin was a very respectable third over seven furlongs at Saratoga on debut in a race that should throw up plenty of future winners and he’ll come on a fair amount from that run so he is the one to side with.
4:12 pm Belmont Park (Race 7) – Saratoga Flash 4/1
Water’s Edge is likely to go off warm order in Race 7 at Belmont Park so it may prove best to play each-way here and with that in mind Saratoga Flash is the one who should be in the money and could potentially upset the favourite. Barclay Tagg’s colt has won just the once from six starts, but that was at this course, albeit over two furlongs shorter than this distance of a mile but this trip should be fine, especially with the fact he has a perfect draw in stall two so it will be disappointing should he fail to figure in this.
4:44 pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – Velvet Sister 7/2
The penultimate race at Belmont Park is one for the two-year-old fillies and it’s the $150,000 Joseph A. Gimma Stakes over seven furlongs on the dirt and Velvet Sister can put it down to the rest of the field in what is a very good race on paper. This filly was very good when winning here on debut by no less than nine and three quarter lengths and has since gone on to finish a close second to November Rain (who re-opposes here) in a Black Type event at Saratoga but I think this filly has more scope than that horse and it wouldn’t surprise if she won this nicely.
