3:42 pm ET Belmont Park (Race 6) – Nova Rags 8/5 (2-star play)
Race 6 at Belmont Park is a 6-furlong allowance optional claimer for the older generation which looks to be between Colonel Bowman and Nova Rags.
Nova Rags has a bit of class about him and has hit the board on multiple occasions in graded company at Belmont, so if he runs close to his best form then he should be able to win this for William Mott and his team.
4:16 pm ET Belmont Park (Race 7) – Unique Unions 7/2 (2-star play)
David Duggan’s Unique Unions is a consistent son of Union Jackson who ran with great credit when finishing 2nd behind Brew Pub at Aqueduct last time out in his first run of the year.
That was a good effort after a near 5-month break and this allowance winner should come on a good amount from that so he should put up a bold showing over his favored trip of 6 furlongs.
4:48 pm ET Belmont Park (Race 8) – Root Cause 2/1 (2-star play)
A field of 8 3-year-old fillies is set to go to post for Race 8 which is a competitive allowance optional claiming event over an extended mile trip on the turf and I like the chances of the filly in gate 4, Root Cause.
Irad Ortiz Jr’s mount showed a determined attitude to break her maiden at Gulfstream Park in March and she retains plenty of potential for in-form trainer Chad Brown.
5:20 pm ET Belmont Park (Race 9) – Sonic Speed 8/1 (1-star play)
The finale is an open-looking $45,000 claiming contest where some outsiders are worthy of consideration and Sonic Speed is one who can hit the board at a good price.
He won at this level at Aqueduct last season and, although he has failed to win in 9 starts since, he has been clocking up some impressive speed figures so it would not be a surprise should he come out in front.
