4:39 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 8) – Be Your Best 6/5 (2-star play)
Belmont At The Big A plays host to a fantastic stakes race card on Saturday and in Race 8 we have a field of 6 2-year-old fillies lining up for the $200,000 Grade 2 Miss Grillo Stakes in which the Horacio De Paz-trained Be Your Best will take all the beating.
This daughter of Muhaarar is 2 from 2 thus far with a combined winning distance of 7 lengths, which includes an easy win in a Listed contest last time out, so I wouldn’t want to be fading her.
5:13 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 9) – Thin White Duke 9/2 (1-star play)
The Grade 3 Belmont Turf Sprint Stakes is a fiercely competitive affair with many holding some kind of chance and I like the gelding in stall 7, Thin White Duke, who has won at this course and comes into this in red-hot form having won a stakes event last time out.
Jose Ortiz’s mount recorded his best speed figures in his last 2 starts, which have resulted in a Grade 3 3rd and a win in Listed class, and he looks to have a really good chance of adding to his 2 victories this season.
5:45 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 10) – Gulfport 2/1 (2-star play)
There are some very promising colts taking to the stage in the $500,000 Grade 1 Champagne Stakes, which has been won by Jackie’s Warrior and Jack Christopher in recent years, and the 2022 running can go to the highly regarded Gulfport.
The is a stepping stone to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and in Gulfport we have a horse who has finished 2nd the last twice with his latest effort being in the Grade 1 Hopeful at Saratoga, where he chased home Forte, which is fantastic form coming into this.
6:17 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 11) – Carbon 5/1 (1-star play)
Linda Rice’s Carbon broke her maiden tag at the 5th attempt when winning over course and distance in March and has since been off the track, but she is fit and ready to roll now and can back that up with victory in the finale at Belmont At The Big A.
She won that with more authority than the 1-length winning margin suggests and she remains unexposed so it would not surprise should she put up a bold showing in the last race of the day.
