Here are our best bets for today’s action at Aqueduct.
1:00 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 1) – Abundant Honor 8/5 (2-star play)
Abundant Honor showed good form when finishing 2 lengths 2nd in a mile and 1/16th maiden special weight on a sloppy main track at Gulfstream Park in early January.
The form of that race is working out well and while he ran below that form when last of 7 over 9 furlongs at Saratoga last month on his only subsequent start, he looks up to reversing form with Order of Magnitude (6th that day) with the drop to a mile likely to suit.
1:30 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 2) – Mail Order 2/1 (2-star play)
Mail Order delivered an impressive 3 1/4 length victory in a 6-furlong allowance event at Belmont Park at the start of July and has acquitted herself well in 2 subsequent starts, including when 5 lengths 3rd in a 5 1/2 furlong allowance option claimer at Saratoga at the start of this month.
Regular pilot Jose Lezcano takes the ride and the daughter of Liam’s Map is taken to register a 3rd career win by winning her first start at this track.
2:31 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 4) – Actualize 2/1 (2-star play)
Actualize has finished on the board in each of his first 3 starts, including when runner-up having tried to make all over 6 furlongs on a good main track at Aqueduct in February.
He has put in respectable efforts in 3 subsequent starts, most recently when beaten 3 lengths into 4th having been bumped at the start over this course and distance earlier this month. The drop to a maiden claimer today is a positive move and he looks up to getting off the mark for trainer Charlton Baker.
3:03 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 5) – Saint Selby 9/5 (2-star play)
Saint Selby made all when delivering an impressive 8 1/2 length victory in a 6 1/2 furlong allowance event at Belmont Park at the start of July. He tried to employ similar tactics prior to fading late on in the John Morrissey Handicap over 6 furlongs at Saratoga last month on his only subsequent start.
A rail draw today is a positive and Kendrick Carmouche looks capable of getting out to make all the running on the gelding following a 49.66 4-furlong breeze at Belmont Park recently.
4:09 pm ET Belmont at Aqueduct (Race 7) – Marvelous Maude 5/2 (2-star play)
Marvelous Maude completed a double when winning by a length having been ridden from mid-division in a mile and 1/16th allowance event at Saratoga at the end of July. She was a respectable 6th in the Grade 2 Flower Bowl over a mile and 3/8ths at the same venue at the start of this month.
Set a much easier assignment today, she looks up to registering a 5th win in 10 career starts with Irad Ortiz looking to improve on a 24% strike-rate (12/50) at this meeting.
