3:32 pm Aqueduct (Race 5) – Valenzan Day 8/5 (2-star play)
Demonstrated ability in allowance optional claiming company last year including when winning impressively over six furlongs at Delaware Park in September. The son of Khozan has delivered two subsequent victories with the most recent coming by a head in a $25,000 claiming event over six-and-a-half-furlongs here last month. Joined the Patrick L Reynolds barn following that triumph and looks capable of following up having advertised his well-being with a couple of works at Belmont Park in recent weeks.
4:04 pm Aqueduct (Race 6) – Try It Again 5/2 (2-star play)
Kenneth McPeek’s Rattle N Roll is a Grade 1 winner at Keeneland and comes into the Grade 3 Ben Ali Stakes with a great chance. There’s no doubt Skippylongstocking will take some beating here, but Rattle N Roll has some very good stakes race form in the book and will come on a good amount from a fourth-place effort at Fair Grounds last time when he was staying on nicely over a trip just shy of this mile and three-sixteenths.
5:10 pm Aqueduct (Race 8) – Midtown Lights 8/5 (2-star play)
Placed second to Les Bon Temps in a similar race to this over seven furlongs on a muddy track here in December. Trained by Brad Cox the selection has delivered a couple of improved efforts figure wise when following up a second in an allowance optional claimer over six furlongs here in January with a two-and-a-quarter-length triumph on her first start at a mile last month. Return to sprinting should prove no issue and she can complete a double.
