12:20 pm Aqueduct (Race 1) – Uncorrelated 9/5 (2-star play)
Purchased for $170,000 at the sales as a yearling back in 2021 the son of Arrogate has shown plenty of promise in his morning works ahead of his racecourse debut. Latest work came when delivering a 50.70 four furlong work at Belmont Park at the end of last month. While likely to be better over further in time he represents a top trainer in Chad Brown and looks up to making the perfect start to his racing career.
1:47 pm Aqueduct (Race 4) – Bourbon Chase 7/5 (2-star play)
Placed second on each of his three starts to date including when beaten a length on a fast main track over six furlongs here when debuting in October. Encountered muddy tracks on both subsequent starts most recently when racing in fifth for much of the contest in a similar race to this over course and distance just under a month ago. Looks up to breaking his maiden at the fourth attempt with lasix used for the first time.
2:16 pm Aqueduct (Race 5) – Vallarand 2/1 (2-star play)
Finished on the board on two of her three starts since joining the Rob Atras barn from Charlton Baker last year. Most recent effort came when beaten three-and-a-half-lengths into second in a mile $35,000 claiming event here last month. The drop in grade here is in her favour and having performed well in stronger races in the past the daughter of Maclean’s Music looks capable of scoring with Manny Franco, on board for her last three starts booked to ride.
3:45 pm Aqueduct (Race 8) – Carbon 9/5 (2-star play)
Demonstrated good form in three starts since winning a maiden special weight over this track and trip by a length in March last year. Runner-up when beaten a neck in a seven furlong allowance contest when last in action last month. Delivered a career best speed figure when ridden more positively than usual on that occasion. Regular pilot Kendrick Carmouche takes the ride and return to six furlongs the daughter if Ironicus looks capable of doubling her career tally.
4:14 pm Aqueduct (Race 9) – Curlin’s Wisdom 5/2 (2-star play)
Registered three victories in late 2022 including a half-length victory on a good main track at this venue last month. Had previously filled second spot in two consecutive starts including when coming with half-a-length of delivering a stakes victory in the mile-and-one-eighth Empire Classic Stakes here at the end of October. Had to give best to an all-the-way winner on that occasion but is taken to get his 2023 off to the perfect start with a victory.
