Horse Racing picks for Aqueduct race track on Friday, January 20: As good as Ice Cold Gold

Swiss Skydiver wins the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Racetrack.

There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Friday, including at Aqueduct race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time now and we are up +232.42 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at Aqueduct race track.

12:50 pm Aqueduct (Race 1) – Bonana Fanna Foe 8/5 (2-star play)

Registered on the board for finishes in all 4 starts since returning from a break including on wet tracks here on her 2 most recent starts. Suffered a neck defeat when third over 6 furlongs on a sloppy surface when making her 2023 debut earlier this month. Looks the pick on form and having performed well at this level and over further in the past is selected to provide trainer Chris J Englehart with a winner.

1:18 pm Aqueduct (Race 2) – Ice Cold Gold 7/5 (2-star play)

Showed good form when finishing runner-up, beaten one-and-a-half-lengths having tried to make all the running in a mile $16,000 claiming contest here in November on her penultimate start. Unable to dominate when weakening into 6th in a similar contest over 6 furlongs here a week later however. Recent works are nothing to write home about but she is well drawn here and is selected to deliver a victory with jockey Kendrick Carmouche boasting a 24% strike-rate (14/58) at this meeting.

1:47 pm Aqueduct (Race 3) – Chloe Rose 2/1 (2-star play)

Demonstrated that she can compete in stronger contests than this when winning a $50,000 starter contest over 6 furlongs at Saratoga in July. Failed to replicate that form in four subsequent starts but showed signs of a return to form when 5th having faded late on to be beaten five-and-a-half-lengths in a seven furlong $32,000 claimer on a sloppy track here last month. Drops in grade here and looks up to scoring dropping back to 6 furlongs.

2:17 pm Aqueduct (Race 4) – Doctor Love 9/5 (2-star play)

Placed on 3 of his 5 starts at this venue the son of Cairo Prince delivered a good two-and-a-half-lengths 3rd having led in the straight in a $50,000 starter contest over a mile here earlier this month. Making his debut for current handler Tom Morley that day having finished runner-up in a mile $25,000 claiming event on his final start for his previous handler. The drop in trip here is no issue and he can register a 3rd career success.

4:16 pm Aqueduct (Race 8) – Chess Spectacular 8/5 (2-star play)

Demonstrated ability in 3 starts in maiden special weight contests here. Most recent of those came when eight-and-three-quarter-lengths 5th over six-and-a-half-furlongs in November. Gelded since that effort the son of Mastery has register a number of works at Belmont Park in recent weeks. The slight drop in distance here looks likely to suit and with promising apprentice Jose A. Gomez up he is taken to register a first victory dropping to $40,000 maiden claiming company for the first time.
