Horse Racing picks for Delaware Park race track on Wednesday, September 22: Just what Dr. Shane ordered

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Wednesday, including at Delaware Park race track. Here are 4 runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. It’s time to dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.

3:15 pm Delaware Park (Race 5) – Three Coins 8/1

Race 5 at Delaware Park is a $22,000 Maiden Claiming event over a mile on the turf, which won’t take much winning, so with that in mind it’s worth siding with Three Coins who has been threatening to win one of these all season. This four-year-old has yet to win a race but has finished second on no less than seven occasions, with four of those being since April of this year and he won’t have a better chance of breaking that maiden tag in what is a weak race.

3:45 pm Delaware Park (Race 6) – Second Line David 15/1

Second Line David is one of the outsiders in Race 6 at Delaware Park but he is a last time out winner who has plenty of course experience so he may well upset the applecart here. This gelded son of Sky Mesa had seven starts at Delaware before winning and when he did win he won well, by a comfortable two lengths, so something may have clicked with him and if that’s the case I don’t see any reason why he can’t win again.

4:15 pm Delaware Park (Race 7) – Dr. Shane 6/1

The penultimate race at Delaware Park is a $28,000 Starter Allowance which features a small but competitive field and this one can go to Dr. Shane who, at eight years of age, is having his first start at this track. This gelding is a bit of a legend on the racing circuit having contested races all over America but this change of scenery may just spark a fire in his belly and this is also his first start in this grade so, considering he has won multiple times at a higher level, he can win this.

4:45 pm Delaware Park (Race 8) – My Thoughts 8/1

A field of seven are set to go to post for the $22,000 Maiden Claimer which is the eighth and final race on Delaware Park’s Friday card and I like the look of the newcomer in stall five, My Thoughts. Most of this field are newcomers but I like the breeding of this filly who’s Sire and Dam both won on their debut seasons on the track and there has been some early money for her so all looks set for a bold showing on debut.
