The winner of five of her nine career starts the daughter of Competitive Edge registered a first Graded success when taking the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap over six-and-one-half-furlongs at Del Mar in August. Delivered a solid second place finish when upped to seven furlongs in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint at the same venue the following month on her only subsequent start and she looks up to delivering a victory down in grade.
6:35 pm Santa Anita (Race 8) – Helens Well 5/2
A maiden special weight winner at Del Mar in August Philip D’Amato’s charge delivered a couple of solid second place finishes in minor stakes company subsequently including when runner-up over this course and distance in the Surfer Girl Stakes in October. An eighth at the Breeders’ Cup followed and she looks up to delivering a second career success having been forced to challenge five wide when fourth in the Grade 3 Jimmy Durante Stakes over a mile at Del Mar.
7:05 pm Santa Anita (Race 9) – American Theorem 9/5
A debut winner at Del Mar back in August 2019 the son of American Pharoah has been relatively lightly-raced since making just the five appearances including three last year. The most recent of those resulted in a second place finish in an allowance optional claimer over six furlongs at Los Alamitos last month. Was ridden with restraint that day but is versatile tactics wise and can provide jockey Mike Smith with a winner in the penultimate race on the card.
