There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Thursday, including at Gulfstream Park and Aqueduct race tracks. We have been in fine form with our picks, up 215.65 units dating back to Aug. 5. In the last 5 days we are 2-for-2 on 3-star best bets and have also backed winners at +700 and +800. Let’s keep the momentum going!
Here are four runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.
2:58 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – War Star 9/2
It’s been a long time since she last tasted success, but having missed out by narrow margins of late, her turn is surely nearly. A Gulfstream Park regular, she was beaten a head in a track and distance $54,000 allowance optional claimer earlier this month. She was ultimately very unlucky, missing out on the bob, and compensation shouldn’t be far away. She’ll get a strong pace to chase, which only boosts her chances, and unlike many of her main rivals, she’s very consistent. One of three mares in the field, she can show her younger rivals the way home.
4:07 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – U U Star 7/2
Cajun Mandate is a short price for this contest, but this is her fourth attempt and U U Star can reverse the form of their meeting over track and distance two weeks ago. She was making her debut on that occasion and finished just a length behind, despite being bumped early and conceding the run of the race to that rival. She’ll know far more today and has drawn the inside stall, which is always handy. With natural improvement, she can surely reverse that form and make it second time lucky under Chantal Sutherland.
2:38 pm Aqueduct (Race 5) – Inevtabl Conection 3/1
Runner-up on both his starts thus far, compensation surely awaits Steve Klesaris’s son of Connect. He cost $20,000 as a two-year-old and he battled away bravely at Saratoga on debut, producing a similar figure when bumping into a useful rival at Aqueduct last time. This looks to be a good opening for him and as a likely pace angle, he should be able to grab an uncontested lead from stall two. If they allow him that free reign, he’ll be tough to reel in under Kendrick Carmouche.
3:36 pm Aqueduct (Race 7) – Sharp Starr 9/5
She’s not always the most consistent, but Haoracio DePaz’s filly is very classy on her day and won the Empire Distaff at Belmont two starts ago at the expense of Ice Princess. She brushed her aside that day and ran better than the bare form figures suggest in the Go for Wand Handicap at Aqueduct last time. She’s back down in grade today and although she’s conceding weight all around, she’s the class act in this contest. With a good record in similar races, she’s going to be tough to fend off in the closing stages.
