There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Sunday, including at Aqueduct race track. We are up 24.4 units over the past 3 days, which gives us a profit of 200.85 units dating back to Aug. 5. Let’s maintain the momentum!
Here are four runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.
1:18 pm Aqueduct (Race 3) – Forty Comets 5/2
A son of Forty Tales, he finished third on his opening two starts at Saratoga and Belmont. He posted his best effort thus far at Aqueduct last time, finishing well over six furlongs and finding just one too strong. He’s kept in the same grade today and this looks to be a weaker contest than last time. Stretching out half a furlong in distance should suit him and it’d be disappointing if he was unable to get off the mark today.
2:11 pm Aqueduct (Race 5) – Starship Rogue 12/1
This is far from a strong race for the level and Steve Klesaris’s filly looks set to outrun her odds. She was off slowly on her debut at Belmont, unable to make an impact as a result, and the pace held firm over track and distance last time, not allowing her to make ground in the closing stages. She looks capable of better on her third career start and she should get a hot pace to chase on this occasion. She’s likely to be dropped out from the widest stall and a late surge would be no surprise.
3:09 pm Aqueduct (Race 7) – Exotic West 2/1
A winner at Saratoga in August, she arrives on the back of two second-place finishes at Belmont and Aqueduct. She posted a career-best figure at Aqueduct last time, running on powerfully despite being trapped wide through the trip. That was in today’s $55,000 grade and cutting back to the mile, with a stronger pace to aim at, could be the answer. Javier Castellano will have plenty of options from a middling draw and she should be afforded the utmost respect.
3:37 pm Aqueduct (Race 8) – Core Conviction 4/1
A costly $435,000 purchase, Chad Brown’s son of American Pharoah built on a promising Gulfstream debut when scoring easily over seven furlongs at Aqueduct in November. He defeated subsequent winner Waxman by five lengths and the form of that particular contest looks very strong. Stretching out to the mile is a big positive and drawn ideally in stall one, he’s likely to prove tough to beat on his first start against winners.
