Horse Racing picks at Aqueduct and Del Mar race tracks on Sunday, November 14: Choose Violent Trick

Santa Anita Horse Racing on Dirt

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Sunday, including at Aqueduct and Del Mar race tracks. Here are 4 runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. We have been crushing our horse picks for several months now (up 190.45 units dating back to Aug. 5), and we picked 4 winners in 5 races on Saturday for a profit of 13 units.

Let’s dive in discuss these potentially profitable plays.

2:15 pm Aqueduct (Race 5) – Violent Trick 2/1

A six-time winner in her career thus far, she finished second in a trio of claiming races at Aqueduct last winter. She’s scored just once in 2021, but she’s been extremely consistent and that sole victory came in a $65,000 allowance race at Monmouth, which is strong form. Post three gives her an excellent chance of making the lead, which she’ll need to do, and the booking of Jose Ortiz is another obvious positive to her chances.

6:00 pm Del Mar (Race 6) – Portsmouth 5/1

Costing $150,000 as a yearling, this son of Twirling Candy ran a shade disappointingly when only fourth on debut at Del Mar in August. That was over five and a half furlongs, however, and stretching out to the mile distance should see him in a much better light. His pedigree points towards this new trip prompting sizeable improvement and he’s much better drawn today. With natural improvement, he’s entitled to plenty of respect.

3:44 pm Aqueduct (Race 8) – Plum Ali 8/1

A Grade 2 winner as a juvenile, she’s perhaps been a shade disappointing since, failing to pick up a victory since her three juvenile successes. She’s run some good races in defeat this year, however, including a fifth in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks. Her latest fifth at Belmont in the Sands Point was better than the bare result and with plenty of pace likely, she should get the race run to suit. At each-way odds, she’s a tempting option, with her best form putting her in the argument.

7:00 pm Del Mar (Race 8) – Winning Map 7/5

A son of Liam’s Map, he cost $525,00 as a two-year-old and after showing plenty of ability in the mornings prior to his Santa Anita debut, he cruised through that race and quickened clear readily. It was a very impressive performance over six furlongs and he looks set to improve for the stretch out to seven. Trained by Bob Baffert, he should progres with his racing and facing just three rivals, he can remain unbeaten under Mike Smith.
