There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Saturday, including at Aqueduct race track. We are up 183.45 units dating back to Aug. 5 after nailing an 8/1 longshot on Thursday and a 4/1 winner on Friday. Let’s maintain the momentum!
Here are five runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.
11:50 am Aqueduct (Race 1) – Fenwick 5/2
The once-raced son of Curlin can go one better than when finishing runner-up in a maiden special weight over seven furlongs at Belmont Park when debuting in October by taking the opening race on the card. The selection was beaten a length-and-three-quarters that day with the front two pulling clear of their four rivals. The juvenile is likely to have improved for that effort and he can score here with his jockey that Jose Lezcano again in the saddle.
12:20 pm Aqueduct (Race 2) – Robyn And Eli 2/1
Showed plenty of ability when making her debut in a maiden special weight over six furlongs on turf at Belmont Park in October. Tackling more experienced rivals she fared best of the five newcomers in the field racing from close to the speed prior to finishing a good half-length third under today’s jockey Manny Franco. Likely to have improved for that experience she should appreciate the extra distance she gets here and she can score at the second attempt.
2:14 pm Aqueduct (Race 6) – Fiery Heart 3/1
Todd Pletcher’s charge saw his sales price increase at auction having first sold for $24,000 as a yearling and most recently fetched $475,000 at the two-year-old in training sales at Fasig Tipton in March. The son of Outwork represents a top stable and having delivered some solid workouts in recent months, including a 49.45 four furlong breeze on the dirt training track at Belmont Park he is taken to get off the mark at the first attempt under Luis Saez.
2:43 pm Aqueduct (Race 7) – Lady Rocket 8/5
A three time winner this year the daughter of Tale Of The Cat proved that she is up to competing at graded stakes level when finishing runner-up in the Gallant Bloom Handicap over six-and-one-half-furlongs at Belmont Park in September. Tackled a four runner contest that day and resumed winning ways when seeing off five rivals in the Listed Pumpkin Pie Stakes over seven furlongs at the same venue in October. Can provide trainer Brad Cox with a graded stakes success.
3:14 pm Aqueduct (Race 8) – Mo Donegal 8/5
Delivered a promising third place finish having raced from off the pace in a six-and-one-half-furlong maiden special weight at Belmont Park on debut at the end of September. Took a step forward when racing closer to the speed upped to a mile-and-one-sixteenth when scoring by one-and-a-half-lengths at the same venue the following month. Hails from a top yard and can complete a double having drawn the rail for trainer Todd Pletcher on his first start in graded stakes company.
