Karl-Anthony Towns 3+ made threes (+165)
Although he has been bothered by a knee injury which caused him to miss a game over the weekend against Detroit, Towns successfully returned to the lineup and drained a game-winning three-ball in the 113-108 win at Toronto. Right now he is on a streak of 2 made threes in 3 straight games, while over his last 7 he has failed to do so just once.
Atlanta owns the worst three-point defense in the NBA this season, with opponents making 38.7% of their attempts against them. In their last 3 games, that number has gone up to 40.2% and I expect Towns to take full advantage. He made 5 of 9 threes the last time he played the Hawks, finishing with 34 points and 16 rebounds. KAT is typically a bad matchup for Atlanta as center Clint Capela just isn’t fit enough to hang around with him at the perimeter. I have full confidence in Towns draining a bunch of threes in this game.

De’Andre Hunter over 17.5 points (-113)
If it wasn’t for his injury issues this season, Hunter would be one of the frontrunners for the Sixth Man of the Year award. He’s averaging 19.3 points per game in 14 games played and he’s started in only 2 of those games. Right now he is on a really solid streak to start the month of December, scoring at least 20 points in 4 games in a row. He has upped his three-point efficiency by 6.3% compared to last month and has missed just 1 free-throw out of 15 attempts. The Knicks’ 2nd unit has just a +1.5 Net Rating this season and head coach Tom Thibodeau has used his reserves for just 296 minutes this year which is the lowest number in the NBA. That’s an opportunity for Hunter to showcase himself against lesser players and he should do that here with yet another solid offensive output.

Trae Young to record 12+ assists (-105)
Trae Young and the crowd at Madison Square Garden have a special type of relationship and with this being an elimination game, I feel like that will bring out the best in the Hawks point guard. Getting to 12 assists has been a relatively easy task for the NBA’s assists-per-game leader. Young is averaging 12.2 dimes per game this season and so far in December he’s had 2 monster games of 20 and 15 assists. With him shooting the lowest field goal percentage of his career this season, Young has been focused way more on getting his teammates involved and that’s one of the main reasons why this team is 6-1 over their last 7 games.
In order for the Hawks to be competitive, Young will have to step up his game. Judging by his recent performances against the Knicks, that’s very much in play here. He’s averaged 12.5 assists per game over the 4 most recent meetings, clearing this line twice. New York is fairly mediocre in stopping the ball movement of opposing teams as they allow 25.6 assists per game which ranks them only 14th.
