Saturday’s NFL Wild Card action continues with an intriguing battle in the NFC between the #7 seed Green Bay Packers and #2 seed Philadelphia Eagles. There’s no denying that these teams have been heading in different directions toward the end of the season, as the Packers lost back-to-back games against the Vikings and Bears, while Philadelphia closed out with a pair of easy wins over divisional rivals to clinch the NFC East and the #2 seed. Green Bay Packers +5 vs Philadelphia Eagles (-105)

It was just announced on Friday that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is back in the starting lineup for this one, but it’s fair to think he’ll look a bit rusty here. Not only do quarterbacks often look a bit uncomfortable when first returning from a concussion, but Hurts has essentially missed 3 straight games since he went down in the opening quarter in Week 16 against the Commanders. Hurts only completed one pass in that game before exiting, so the last time he actually played significant snaps was all the way back on December 15, almost an entire month before this game. The intensity of a playoff game can’t be overstated, and we can expect there to be an adjustment period, at least early on.

On the other side, the Eagles’ defensive numbers over the last two weeks look pretty good, but that’s because they were playing Drew Lock and Cooper Rush. It goes without saying that the Packers represent a massive step up in class from what the Eagles have seen over the past few weeks. Therefore, while Green Bay did lose to the Bears last week and hasn’t been able to beat a top-tier NFC team yet, they still should be able to keep this game within one possession. With that in mind, I’m rolling with the Packers in this one.

Josh Jacobs anytime touchdown scorer (-115)

Regardless of what version of Jordan Love shows up in this game, it’s hard to overlook Josh Jacobs to record a touchdown. Jacobs scored 16 touchdowns (15 rushing, 1 receiving) in the regular season, including 15 over his last 11 games to close out the regular season. This stretch features a pair of 3-touchdown performances, first against San Francisco and then at Detroit’s expense. When you need Jacobs to score just once and can get him relatively close to even money to do so, it’s an opportunity that should not be missed. There is no reason to think his current scoring binge won’t continue, so let’s target the Packers top back to find paydirt once again.

A.J. Brown anytime touchdown scorer (+140)

While A.J. Brown is dealing with a nagging knee injury and we have a potentially rusty Jalen Hurts in the fold, we can still expect a stacked box for Saquon Barkley, who torched this Packers defense during the Eagle’s Week 1 win in Brazil to open the season for both teams. With that in mind, it’s hard to ignore the value we’re getting with Brown to finish with a touchdown, especially since he recorded 119 yards on 10 targets and a touchdown in that Week 1 matchup. Brown has had a couple of weeks off thanks to the Eagles being able to sit starters in Week 18. Therefore, while it may take a quarter for Hurts and Brown to connect and knock the rust off, but I’d expect Hurts to take plenty of shots Brown’s way, who leads the Eagles in air yards and aDOT this season.
