The 2024 NFL season got started in wild fashion as an out-of-bounds toe was the difference-maker with the Chiefs prevailing 27-20 over the Ravens. Now, we turn our attention to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the Corinthians Arena with the Packers getting set to take on the Eagles tonight.

Green Bay Packers ML over Philadelphia Eagles (+110)
The Eagles suffered a monumental collapse at the end of last season, stumbling through the final weeks of the regular season before getting eliminated by an average Buccaneers team in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Now some of those issues in Philly have bled into the start of this campaign, with there being reported heat between head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts. On top of that, star center Jason Kelce has now retired and their defense has taken a step backward, particularly in the pass-rush department.
As for the Packers, they took the league by storm last year with a strong finish to the season that started when they smashed the Lions on Thanksgiving. Quarterback Jordan Love looked fantastic and now gets back his top wide receiver in Christian Watson and now has 2022 rushing yards leader Josh Jacobs operating out of the backfield. At plus-money odds, Green Bay looks a great value pick to start our Packers vs Eagles Same Game Parlay.

Christian Watson to score a touchdown (+210)
Christian Watson has been a force on the Packers offense when he has been healthy — healthy being the key word. Watson’s struggled to stay fit through his first 2 seasons with Green Bay, having missed a chunk last year with a hamstring issue. However, he still managed to haul in 5 scores in 2023 and boasts elite speed that can cause plenty of problems for the Eagles secondary. Philadelphia ranked 29th in defensive DVOA against the pass in 2023 and could struggle to deal with Watson’s explosive ability. This could be as high as we see Watson’s TD odds given the expectations around Green Bay, so let’s add it to our Packers vs Eagles Same Game Parlay.

Jalen Hurts to score a touchdown (+100)
Next, we’ll turn our attention to the Eagles offense. Ultimately this game has all the hallmarks of turning into a shootout, and the game total of 49.5 supports this, so it’s highly likely that Philadelphia gets into the end zone at least a couple of times. I’m expecting Hurts to be one of those touchdown scorers. Hurts has a lot to prove after last season’s collapse and the aforementioned heat with Sirianni, and I’m expecting him to come out firing both through the air and using his legs. He scored 15 rushing touchdowns last season and the Packers allowed the 9th-most TDs on the ground, so there’s every chance Hurts powers his way in.

Jordan Love under 256.5 passing yards (-113)
To wrap up this Packers vs Eagles Same Game Parlay and give the odds a healthy boost, I’m taking the under on Jordan Love’s passing yards. This contrarian leg goes against the Packers ML and Watson TD picks, but there’s no reason why all three of these picks can’t happen. Love went under this line in 10 of 17 regular-season games last year and took some time to find his groove, going under in 7 of 8 games. There is every chance he hits the ground running here, but with the Eagles expected to lean on their ground game we could see fewer possessions for this Packers offense as a result. At nearly 30/1 odds, I think the risk is worth the reward. Love can have a great game and the under on this line still cashes, so let’s roll with it.
