World number one Scottie Scheffler was back at it with victory at last week’s Travelers Championship — his 6th PGA Tour title of the year — but there is hope for the golfing world as he won’t be teeing it up in Detroit for the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The man Scheffler edged out in the playoff, South Korean Tom Kim, will be competing in the Motor City and it will be interesting to see how much that narrow defeat has taken out of him, both physically and emotionally.

Rocket Mortgage Classic golf picks and predictions

Taylor Pendrith (+5000)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Debuting in 2019 at Detroit Golf Club, the Rocket Mortgage Classic is one of the newest tournaments on the PGA Tour and it has been proven to be a birdie-fest each year, with winning scores of -25, -23, -18, -26 and -24. Measuring 7,320 yards, this par-72 course is not long compared to today’s standards and the key club in the bag this week will be the putter, which is why Taylor Pendrith looks capable of challenging for his second title on the US circuit.

The Canadian, who broke his PGA duck in May’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson, is 5th in putting average this season and he has already shown an affinity for this layout after coming joint-2nd in 2022. Pendrith recorded a top-15 finish last year and his form since his victory in May has been solid, with his next 6 starts producing results of T10-MC-T21-T33-T16-T23.

You can get the best odds on our Taylor Pendrith pick over at FanDuel Sportsbook, where new users can earn $200 in bonus bets if their first $5 wager is a winner! All you have to do to secure this great FanDuel promotion is click this link.

Akshay Bhatia (+2200)

Odds generally available at time of publishing.

Akshay Bhatia demonstrated his class when landing the Texas Open in April, adding to his 2023 Barracuda Championship success, and he could be in contention in Detroit this week. The 22-year-old American dropped off after that San Antonio triumph but his form has returned over his last 3 outings, going T22 at The Memorial, T16 at the US Open, and tied-5th at the Travelers Championship. Bhatia is another strong putter, ranking 22nd in average and 29th in strokes gained, and his missed cut here on debut last year shouldn’t be a worry as he returns as a 2-time PGA Tour champion.

Ryan Fox (+5000)

Odds generally available at time of publishing.

New Zealand’s Ryan Fox is getting closer to landing his first win on the US circuit, with a top-5 and top-10 coming in his last 5 starts, and he is one to watch out for this week. While the 37-year-old is well-known for possessing lots of power, his short game doesn’t always get the credit it deserves and he is in the top 30 for both putting average and strokes gained.

If you’re looking to tail our Akshay Bhatia and Ryan Fox picks, then we recommend doing so with Bet365. They have the best odds available and are one of the most popular sportsbooks worldwide!
