Perhaps understandably, newly crowned Masters champion Rory McIlroy will not make a quick reappearance on the PGA Tour this week despite the Signature Event status which adorns the Heritage. Scottie Scheffler, 4th at the Masters as defending champion despite never looking near his best, dominates the betting in the RBC Heritage for a tournament he won last year just a week after landing a second Green Jacket.
This week’s venue, Harbour Town Golf Links, is a tight coastal track that contrasts sharply with the inland majesty of Augusta National. It is a fiddly, claustrophobic course where shorter hitters don’t tend to be at a disadvantage. Taking on the favorites did not pay off at the Masters but, with Scheffler close but not at the level we expect from him, it could again pay to look away from those who are at the top of the RBC Heritage betting market. Let’s dive into my golf predictions for this week’s PGA event.

RBC Heritage golf picks and predictions
RBC Heritage best bet: Patrick Cantlay (+2000)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Ludvig Aberg all have obvious claims to win the RBC Heritage but none boast the course credentials of Patrick Cantlay, who has Harbour Town form figures of 3-7-3-MC-2-3-3 to his name. Cantlay doesn’t win as often as he should but he’s shown killer instinct when he gets into contention and his Masters performance – he finished 36th – could’ve been a lot better had he not played the 15th hole in 7-over-par across all 4 days. Generally, he is striking the ball well and should put up another bold bid in his latest attempt to win the Heritage’s tartan jacket.

RBC Heritage prediction: Russell Henley (+2500)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Russell Henley was fancied for the Masters last week and, after a dreadful opening round, responded with a dogged 68 to miss the cut by a shot. Thursday’s aberration aside, the Georgia man has been in brilliant form, winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and he could land another huge prize having placed 9th at Harbour Town in 2021 and 12th last year.
RBC Heritage longshot pick: Maverick McNealy (+6500)
Odds available at bet365 and FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Maverick McNealy, solid on Masters debut last week, has strong coastal credentials – he won the RSM Classic last year – and is ready to step up and contend this week at a venue where he was 4th in 2021.
RBC Heritage longshot prediction: Bud Cauley (+8500)
Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing.
Bud Cauley also continues to impress, finishing 6th, 4th and 5th in his last 3 events. He finished 9th on his Harbour Town debut in 2017 and is making up for lost time now he’s finally fit and healthy after sustaining serious injuries in a 2018 car accident.
