Scottie Scheffler makes a belated return to competitive action this week at the second Signature Event of the 2025 PGA Tour season, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Scheffler has not been seen since suffering a hand injury that required surgery over Christmas and there has to be doubts over his readiness for this event given his participation was touch and go as recently as last week. While it would be foolish to write him off, others are likely to be sharper than the world number 1, who didn’t include this tournament on his schedule until it became a Signature Event last year, when he finished 6th behind Wyndham Clark.

As a result of its elevated status, the field size for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am was reduced to 80 runners last season and 2 courses were used instead of the usual 3 – Monterrey Peninsula was dropped with 3 rounds taking place at Pebble Beach Golf Links and 1 round played at Spyglass Hill on either Thursday or Friday.

Let’s get into my expert picks for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, while you can also find out our golf picks for EVERY PGA Tour event this year.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf picks and predictions

Pebble Beach Pro-Am best bet: Justin Thomas (+1500)

Odds available at Bet365 at time of publishing.

With question marks over Scheffler’s health and Rory McIlroy’s suitability for Pebble Beach, it’s Justin Thomas who appeals from the list of the 6 or 7 elite names who feature at the top of the market. Like most of his main rivals, Thomas has been an infrequent visitor to the Monterrey Peninsula but he enjoyed himself on his Pro-Am return after a decade away, finishing in a tie for 6th last year.

Thomas has found top form again, finishing 2nd at the Zozo Championship, 3rd at the World Challenge and a runner-up at the American Express in his last 4 events, and his irons are red hot ahead of a trip to Pebble Beach, where tiny greens always demand precise approach shots. Thomas has to prove he can win again having come close on numerous occasions recently but, if he putts as well as he did at PGA West a fortnight ago, he could bag a 16th PGA Tour title on Sunday afternoon.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am prediction: Maverick McNealy (+6000)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Maverick McNealy lived next to Pebble Beach as a child and played the course for the first time on his 16th birthday, so it’s no surprise he counts the AT&T Pro-Am as one of his favorite weeks on the PGA calendar. The Californian broke through in the RSM Classic in November, then finished 8th in the Sentry to start this year. He was 5th at Pebble Beach in 2020 and then 2nd in 2021, but could finally go one better this week.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am prediction: Tom Huge (+9000)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Thomas and McNealy are tremendous iron-players and that’s also true of Tom Hoge, who held off Jordan Spieth to claim this title in 2022 and was another who finished in a share of 6th place last season. Hoge, 8th at the Sentry and solid over the last fortnight, can shine at a happy hunting ground.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am pick: Matt Fitzpatrick (+10000)

Odds available at Bet365 at time of publishing.

It could pay to take a chance on Matt Fitzpatrick – the Englishman was 12th at the US Open at Pebble Beach in 2019 and 6th in the 2022 Pro-Am. He played the final 3 rounds of the Sentry in 20 under par.
