The Florida Swing is in the books and The Masters is on the horizon, but before we direct our attention to the perfectly manicured fairways of Augusta National, the PGA Tour heads for a fortnight in Texas where a host of Green Jacket contenders are putting the finishing touches to their preparation. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are first and second in the Masters betting and the 2 superstars dominate the betting market for the Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course, a 7,475-yard par-70 which hosted this event for the first time in 2020. Texas-based Scheffler has course form figures of 32-2-9-2 but comes into this week on a lean spell by his ludicrously high standards, while McIlroy is making his Memorial Park debut.

Both Scheffler and McIlroy are well suited to this tough track which puts a demand on ball-striking and touch around the greens, but both will also have Augusta in their sights — Scheffler aiming to find that spark that could make him unbeatable again and McIlroy hoping to stay razor-sharp after his Players Championship triumph. Let’s get into my expert predictions for the Houston Open, while you can also find out our golf picks for EVERY PGA Tour event this year.

Houston Open golf picks and predictions

Houston Open best bet: Tony Finau (+3500)

Odds generally available at time of publishing.

Stephan Jaeger pipped Scheffler by a shot in last year’s Houston Open and, given the short odds on offer about the top 2, it could pay to look elsewhere. Tony Finau therefore comes into consideration, who should bounce back from a poor Florida Swing. While he missed the cut at the Players Championship by a long way, Finau won this title in 2022 then came back and shared the runner-up spot last year, and it was only a month ago that he finished 5th in an elite field at the Genesis Invitational despite opening with a 76. He has never impressed at Sawgrass but, back on a course where his power and long-iron class will be shown to best effect, he looks to have value in his bid to land another PGA Tour victory in the Lone Star State.

Houston Open prediction: Min Woo Lee (+4000)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Min Woo Lee also catches the eye this week, who faltered after a strong start at the Players, eventually finishing 20th. However, he’s been solid for much of the PGA Tour season and will relish playing at a venue where he can showcase his prowess around the greens.

Houston Open pick: Max Greyserman (+6500)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook and Bet365 at time of publishing.

Max Greyserman, a powerhouse who putts well, finished 7th on his Memorial Park debut in 2024 and has gone from strength to strength since, rising from 171st to 40th in the world over the last year. There is every chance he proves to be best among the field this week.

Houston Open longshot pick: Davis Riley (+12000)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Mississippi man Davis Riley has emerged from a weak spell with a vengeance, having finished 6th, 38th and 7th over the last 3 weeks. He has rock-solid course form figures of 29-27-14 and his sole PGA Tour win as an individual came in Texas at last season’s Charles Schwab Challenge.

You can get the best odds on our Davis Riley longshot pick with FanDuel Sportsbook, where there’s never been a better time to sign up! Simply click here to join now and you’ll receive $200 in bonus bets if your first $5 wager is a winner!
