The PGA Tour and LPGA Tour join forces this week for the final tournament on the 2024 golf schedule, the Grant Thornton Invitational, in which 16 mixed pairs will compete for the title from Friday to Sunday. This 3-round contest, which replaced the QBE Shootout last year, features a first-round scramble, second-round foursomes (alternate shot) and a final round of modified fourball. As was the case last season, the tournament takes place at Tiburon Golf Club’s Gold Course, a venue which also hosted the QBE Shootout and remains the home of the LPGA’s CME Group Tour Championship.

Jason Day and Lydia Ko put their short-game prowess to good use last season and look the biggest dangers as they seek to defend the Grant Thornton title. New Zealander Ko has had an excellent year, winning the Olympics and the Women’s Open, and she is a 2-time Tour Championship winner at Tiburon. Day, meanwhile, struggled at the Hero last week, finishing tied-last of 20 players, but the Aussie was previously 8th in his homeland in the Australian PGA Championship.
