MLB pick today: Miami Marlins ML over New York Mets (+145), 1:10 pm ET

The Marlins and the Mets enter an NL East battle tonight between two 3-4 teams. The Marlins’ pitching is good and they are 9th in WHIP and 14th in ERA. We knew they would have some good pitching when we started the season and that should give them the advantage in this game.

The Marlins are better in almost every batting statistic so far this year and the Mets are 20th or worse in average, OBP, slugging and home runs. The Marlins have a statistically better pitching staff and better lineup, so for that reason, backing the Marlins to win will be our play.

NBA pick today: Miami Heat -6.5 over Washington Wizards (-110), 7:10 pm ET

The Miami Heat still find themselves just a game back from the Brooklyn Nets and an automatic playoff spot. As a result, they are not taking any chances and have decided to play their stars despite the postseason being around the corner.

The Wizards have dropped 4 straight games and have struggled on the defensive side of the ball. Over the last 10 games they have ranked just 26th in defensive rating., while the Heat have ranked 5th in offensive rating during that time. With the offensive weapons that the Wizards are missing, it is hard to see them keeping pace tonight. For that reason, backing the Heat to win comfortably will be our play.

MLB pick today: Milwaukee Brewers ML over St. Louis Cardinals (-170), 8:10 pm ET

The Brewers finished up a huge series sweep against the Mets at home and now welcome the Cardinals for a divisional showdown. Meanwhile, the Cardinals suffered the opposite result in their previous series as they were swept by the Braves in convincing fashion, so they’ll look to get back on track in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee should find a way to give Brandon Woodruff enough run support in this game as he attempts to navigate through the Cardinals’ dangerous lineup, but his elite arsenal should be able to limit their production. Therefore, backing the Brewers to pick up a win in this series opener will be our play.

MLB pick today: Washington Nationals ML over Colorado Rockies (+100), 8:40 pm ET

For just the 4th time in his last 5 seasons, Jose Urena is the favorite in a game. He struggled with the Tigers and Brewers before landing with the Rockies halfway through last season, and to no surprise, Urena was terrible for Colorado. In 8 starts in Colorado last year, Urena was 2-5 with a 6.30 ERA and a 1.73 WHIP. Opponents had a .311 batting average with a .859 OPS against Urena at Coors Field, and yet, he returns in 2023.

MacKenzie Gore was one of the main pieces sent to Washington in the Juan Soto blockbuster trade, but did not live up to expectations for the Padres last season with a 4.50 ERA. However, Gore showed potential in spring training and earned the #3 spot in the Washington starting rotation. He had the tough task of facing a powerful Braves lineup in his Nationals debut, and the lefty allowed 1 run and 3 hits in 5.1 innings. Even with slight control issues, there should never be a game in which Urena is the favorite. For that reason, backing the Nationals will be our play.
