College Basketball pick today: St. John’s Red Storm -4 over Villanova Wildcats (-110), 7:00 pm ET
Both teams come into the game at 3-5 in conference play. Both are on the wrong side of the bubble watch, but they also have plenty of opportunity to play their way into the field. St. John’s is having a relatively good season, but lacks quality wins over non-conference opponents. The Red Storm’s identity is clear: they play fast. Their offense is not particularly efficient, but they want to get downhill quickly, and they are constantly around the rim.
Villanova, on the other hand, is really bad defensively. KenPom puts them at 158th in defensive efficiency. I know Villanova won the first matchup. However, they were down early at home, then hit a shooting streak at the end of the first half and beginning of the second half. Still, I think the Johnnies playing at home will outrun and overwhelm a struggling Villanova team that appears to be unraveling.

NHL pick today: Pittsburgh Penguins ML over Ottawa Senators (-155), 7:07 pm ET
For the second time in 3 days, the Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins hit the ice for a battle. Pittsburgh will now have the Penguins faithful cheering them on in this game, and while they are in a close race in the Metropolitan Division, they won’t want to disappoint. This is especially true because the Senators are a much younger and weaker team and are a very beatable opponent.
Losing to the Senators twice is not a viable outcome for these Penguins. For that reason, I expect them to come out flying and show the Senators they got lucky in the previous outing, making the Penguins money line worth a play tonight.

NBA pick today: New Orleans Pelicans vs Orlando Magic – Under 228.5 points (-110), 7:10 pm ET
While both teams have ranked in the top half of the league in terms of pace over the last 10 games, they have both been inefficient offensively, ranking 22nd and 23rd in the league in true shooting percentage during that stretch. As a result, the higher pace is unlikely to automatically lead to a higher-scoring contest, making the under the best play tonight.

NBA pick today: Memphis Grizzlies vs Los Angeles Lakers -Under 243 points (-110), 10:10 pm ET
Memphis has the best defensive rating in the entire NBA and have only allowed 1 team to surpass 120 points in the New Year. This is a defensive nightmare for the Lakers without a healthy Anthony Davis. Jaren Jackson Jr. is arguably the best rim defender in the NBA and the Lakers are only shooting 33.7% from beyond the arc. Points are going to be hard to come by in any facet tonight, therefore backing the under looks to be the best play.
