One month into the 2022 college football season, and it’s safe to say that this year has already been a wild ride. There have been plenty of upsets, thrilling finishes, and plethora of surprising results. What will be in store as we start October? Week 5 features a number of important Power 5 tilts, including Alabama vs Arkansas, Baylor vs Oklahoma State and NC State vs Clemson, to name a few. However, some of my favorite player prop markets of the day come from the Big Ten and PAC-12.
Let’s take a look at my favorite player prop plays below, and be sure to check out all of our Week 5 coverage on the college football page.
Jacob Cowing, WR, Arizona anytime touchdown scorer (-115)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
One of the most underrated transfers in the college football offseason was Jacob Cowing leaving UTEP and becoming the #1 wide receiver at Arizona. The Wildcats are much improved from a season ago, needing just one more win to exceed their preseason win total of 2.5 in fact. Cowing has already proven to have a strong connection with Jayden de Laura, grabbing 27 receptions and 6 touchdowns in his first four games as a Wildcat.
Arizona’s passing attack has been dynamic and much of that can be attributed to Cowing’s brilliance. Don’t expect the Wildcats to take their foot off the gas this week against Colorado, as the Buffaloes have surrendered at least 38 points in each game this season. Assuming Arizona puts up at least 4 touchdowns, I’d expect Cowing to be on the receiving end of at least one of them.

Mohamed Ibrahim, RB, Minnesota over 110.5 rushing yards (-114)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Minnesota has been absolutely demolishing teams this season, and it all starts with the Gophers’ rushing attack. This team can score in different ways, but they love to control the line of scrimmage most of all. And after an injury sidelined him a season ago, Mohamed Ibrahim has been a star in the Gophers backfield. The senior running back is the nation’s second-leading rusher entering this week with 567 rushing yards on 89 carries. Ibrahim’s is averaging over 22 carries per game, which should lead him to another big day on the ground against Purdue.
After all, this is a Boilermakers defense that just allowed 189 rushing yards to Florida Atlantic last week. Therefore, I’d expect to see 20-plus carries for Ibrahim en route to a massive output on the ground. Look for the Big Ten’s leading rusher to keep rolling.

Nick Singleton, RB, Penn State anytime rushing touchdown scorer (-130)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
One of the biggest developments in the Big Ten this season has been the emergence of Penn State’s rushing attack. The Nittany Lions finally have a ground game to compliment their solid passing attack, which has proven dividends already. James Franklin can thank Nick Singleton for this sudden explosion on the ground. Singleton entered Penn State with plenty of expectations and he’s already delivering on his potential. The freshman is averaging 9 yards per carry and has 4 touchdowns through 4 games this season.
Singleton has recorded double-digit carries in each game, and he should receive at least a handful of touches in the red zone on Saturday. Penn State will likely want to keep its offense vanilla against Northwestern, so I’d expect to see a lot of Singleton throughout this game. Look for the budding star to find the end zone once again.
