One pick is taken from each sport and a winning ticket would give us a nice payout with odds of +999 at DraftKings. Let’s break down each of these plays.
MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Minnesota Twins – Over 9 (+100) runs, 1:10 pm ET
The Dodgers’ opening series averaged 8.6 runs per game and the Twins’ opening series averaged 7.0. They both have plenty of pop that should be on display in this game. The top of the Twins’ lineup — Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, Jorge Polanco and Gio Urshela — are going to be tough outs for Clayton Kershaw, while the top of the Dodgers’ lineup — Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Trea Turner and Max Muncy — is just ridiculous.
The first head-to-head matchup between these teams hit the over and this game sets up to do the same. There is too much offensive upside in this game to take a risk on there being 8 or fewer runs.

Champions League: Atletico Madrid vs Manchester City – Under 2.5 goals (-135), 3:00 pm ET
Manchester City played out a grueling 2-2 EPL tie with Liverpool on Sunday and has a 1-0 lead to defend, so would be content with a tie or another narrow win. Despite a wealth of offensive options, 4 of City’s last 6 games have featured under 2.5 goals, including the 2nd leg of the Champions League last-16 tie against Sporting Lisbon, which finished 0-0 after City established a comfortable lead at home. Atleti followed their loss to City with a 1-0 defeat to Mallorca and goals may be scarce again in this game.

NBA: San Antonio Spurs +5.5 (-115) vs New Orleans Pelicans, 9:30 pm ET
San Antonio was the last qualifier in the Western Conference and did not even have a .500 record this season, but then neither did New Orleans. The Pelicans finished a couple of games ahead of the Spurs, but they are in worse shape health-wise heading into the play-in tournament. Jonas Valanciunas, Brandon Ingram and Herb Jones are all questionable. The first two are key offensive players, while the rookie Jones is already their best defender.
San Antonio is the underdog despite going 3-1 SU/ATS against the Pelicans this season. That record includes 2 upset wins at the Smoothie King Center, too. Based on those numbers and better health you have to like the Spurs and the points in this situation. They are not going to be outcoached, and Dejounte Murray is likely to be the best player on the floor. Take San Antonio.

NHL: Los Angeles Kings vs Colorado Avalanche 3-way ML (-145), 10:30 pm ET
The Kings are dealing with injuries as Drew Doughty, Mikey Anderson and Andreas Athanasiou remain sidelined, and they are key players for the Kings. A shorthanded defense is a disastrous recipe when going against this Avalanche team, and the fact that the Kings may also be dealing with fatigue after a road game in Chicago last night significantly hurts their chances in this game. It’s hard to see the Kings slowing down Colorado in this game and competing on the second night of a back-to-back, so take the home team.
