Two picks are taken from each sport and a winning ticket would give us a nice payout with odds of +770 at DraftKings. Let’s break down each of these plays.
NHL: Anaheim Ducks vs Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 (-130), 7:05 pm ET
Tampa Bay has a roster full of Stanley Cup champions and simply boast far superior talent in comparison to Anaheim. The Ducks have the flashiness of Trevor Zegras and consistency of Troy Terry, but it ends there. Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point and Victor Hedman of the Lightning are all above or nearing a point per game. Many would argue they also have the best goaltender in the league over the past 3 years in Andrei Vasilevksiy. Tampa Bay’s experienced roster should easily outperform Anaheim’s 24th-ranked goal-scoring.

NHL: New York Islanders vs Pittsburgh Penguins ML (-170), 7:05 pm ET
Home-ice advantage will be huge for the Penguins, because during these recent struggles they need all the help they can get. New York has been very good lately in its surge towards a very unlikely playoff position; it is still alive and remains a highly motivated team. Pittsburgh however is the better team and I don’t think Sidney Crosby is going to allow his club to continue to lose ground in this tight Metropolitan Division race. Tristan Jarry will be back in net, which will be another big factor for Pittsburgh after Casey DeSmith shouldered the loss in the last game. We are probably going to see another close battle between these two, but roll with the host Penguins to come away victorious.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels ML (-145) vs Texas Rangers, 8:05 pm ET
Shohei Ohtani is making his second start of the season. He was sharp in the opener against Houston but has not been as effective on the road compared to at home during his career. Taking on the Rangers will certainly help. For the Rangers, Dane Dunning has to wonder who he has to pay off to get a decent matchup. First up he got the Blue Jays and their excellent lineup and now he has to take on Ohtani and Mike Trout.
Usually, when Ohtani is on the mound you have to pay a steep price but that is not the case with this one. L.A. is not a powerhouse right now but as long as Ohtani gives them a solid six innings they should be able to get a win in their first road game of the season. You can play the run line if you want but the ML is not too bad and the bullpens could make this one interesting.

MLB: Chicago Cubs vs Colorado Rockies ML (-120), 8:40 pm ET
Colorado is off to a great start in 2022. The Cubs haven’t been bad themselves, but the Rockies have showed both strong offense and strong pitching at home and on the road early on. The Rockies have also been very balanced early on. The Cubs attack has been more top heavy and coming from a key couple players. The Rockies should be able to keep the strong play going returning home for this matchup.
