One pick is taken from each sport with a second pick coming from the NFL. A winning ticket gives us a nice payout with odds at +1834 with DraftKings; that’s more than 18/1! Let’s break down each of these plays.
NFL: Atlanta Falcons +2.5 (-105) vs New York Giants, 1pm ET
Arthur Smith made strides in his second game as an NFL head coach, and an adjustment period was always going to be required. The Giants, on the other hand, are coming off one of the most devastating losses you can imagine to Washington on Thursday Night Football last week. The team no longer appears to be buying what Joe Judge is selling, and I’m expecting some regression from Daniel Jones after one of his rare good starts. The Falcons’ weak offensive line will also now have a bit of an easier task after having to go up against the imposing defensive fronts of Philadelphia and Tampa Bay in the first 2 weeks. Atlanta should win this game outright, but grab the 3 points while you still can.

NFL: Miami Dolphins vs Las Vegas Raiders -3.5 (-105), 4:05pm ET
Las Vegas has kicked off its 2021 campaign in incredibly impressive fashion, with a Monday night win over Baltimore followed by a road victory at Pittsburgh. Derek Carr has been outstanding so far with a ridiculous 817 passing yards through 2 games in addition to 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Henry Ruggs III (22.7 ypc) and fellow WR Hunter Renfrow seem to just keep getting better and better every year. As expected, Carr’s MRI for an apparent ankle issue did not show anything of note.
The quarterback news is not as good in Miami. Tua Tagovailoa is injured again, having suffered cracked ribs in Week 2. He is out, which means Jacoby Brissett is now under center for the Dolphins. Brissett was awful against the Bills last weekend, completing 24 of 40 passes for 169 yards with no TDs and 1 INT during a 35-0 loss. Miami is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 following a double-digit home loss. The Raiders are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 September games. It should also be noted that the home team is 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 head-to-head matchups. Back Las Vegas and do so with confidence.

MLB: New York Yankees ML (-105) vs Boston Red Sox, 7:08pm ET
A couple of lefties are taking the mound on Sunday Night Baseball. For the Yankees, Jordan Montgomery has been very steady this season. This will be his fifth start of the year against Boston. The team is 1-3 in his starts but he has pitched well enough to win in all of those contests.
For Boston, Eduardo Rodriguez has good strikeout numbers and a winning record but his ERA is the highest it has been in his career. The Yankees have hit him this season but they haven’t seen him since July.
Getting the Yankees at a low price is a great bet to make on Sunday night. These teams are way too even in this matchup to pay a premium.

MLS: LA Galaxy ML (+160) vs Austin FC, 9:30pm ET
There’s no reason to have confidence in Austin FC against anyone right now, much less against the league’s most storied franchise that’s finally starting to click ahead of a playoff push. The Galaxy just dropped a convincing 3-0 game in Minnesota, but Minnesota is one of the toughest places for any opposing team to play, where as Austin is one of the most welcoming in terms of an opportunity to bring points back home. The team signed Dejan Joveljic to split time at striker with Chicharito, the former Mexican international, and while only one of them will be on the field at the time the signing means that they’ll have a set of fresh legs up front at all times. Take the Galaxy to get all three points in Texas.
