We have put together a 4-pick cross-sport parlay that will take you right through Sunday night, including action from the NFL preseason and MLB.
Three picks are taken from the MLB with 1 coming from the NFL preseason. A winning ticket gives us a nice payout with odds at +1197 with BetMGM; that’s more than 11/1! Let’s break down each of these plays. Remember to gamble responsibly.
MLB pick: Miami Marlins vs Cincinnati Reds ML (-135), 1:10pm ET
Marlins righty Sandy Alcantara was roughed up in Colorado a couple of weeks ago, with 10 runs allowed in only 3.0 innings. Reds rookie Vlad Gutierrez has not faded as the season has ramped up. He has given up 1 or 2 runs in 5 straight starts with the Reds winning 4 of them. I like that the rookie seems to be getting better as the season has progressed. Cincinnati is by far the better form team and Gutierrez helps them close the weekend with a win. Take Cincinnati.

MLB pick: Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros -1.5 (+100), 2:20pm ET
Tyler Anderson will be making his fifth appearance for the Mariners this season, and while he has pitched well with Seattle, he hasn’t exactly faced intimidating opponents. Anderson is posting a respectable 2.91 ERA in 21.2 innings with the Mariners, but he faced the last-place Rangers in 3 of those 4 starts.
Houston entered Saturday with the highest batting average (.273) and OPS (.778) against left-handers in the American League. In addition, the Astros managed 7 hits and 7 runs in just 2.2 innings against the left-handed Yusei Kikuchi in the first game of this series. The Astros are typically tough to face at home, so Anderson could have his hands full in this one. Houston has dominated the first two games of this series, and they seem to be in a favorable position to keep it going on Sunday. Back the Astros -1.5.

MLB pick: Kansas City Royals ML (-105) vs Chicago Cubs, 2:20pm ET
Chicago has been awful since the all-star break as the Cubs have now lost 12 straight games at home. The lineup ranks among the bottom five teams in hits, batting average, and went 6 full innings last night without a single hit against Kris Bubic. Chicago has 2 victories over the past 2 weeks, so take the Royals to earn the road sweep at Wrigley Field today.

NFL preseason pick: San Francisco 49ers vs Los Angeles Chargers – Under 34 points (-110), 7:30pm ET
Even with the 49ers playing Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, they are pretty unlikely to be in any type of hurry. They were the 2nd-slowest team in the NFL in neutral-situation pace last season and not much has changed in the early going of this preseason. On the other side of the ball, Chase Daniel and Easton Stick really don’t move the dial. They were running the most vanilla of vanilla offenses last week. Why would that change this week?
Even if they do mix things up a little, the 49ers just held the Chiefs to 19 points last week. Kansas City was pretty aggressive for a preseason game and it took a late touchdown run for them to even get to 19. It’s hard to see much of a path over this low number.
