Three picks are taken from the MLB with one from the NHL. A winning ticket would give us a nice payout with odds of +743 at DraftKings. Let’s break down each of these plays.
MLB: Baltimore Orioles vs Milwaukee Brewers ML (-155), 3:05 pm ET
In Monday’s series opener against Baltimore, 2021 breakout starter Adrian Houser (10-6, 4.09 xERA in 2021) gets the ball for the Brewers opposite Bruce Zimmerman (4-5, 6.39 xERA in 2021) for the Orioles. Milwaukee’s edge in starting and relief pitching, coupled with their offensive advantage, makes them the recommended side. Baltimore’s offense had a rough go of it during their opening series in Tampa, scoring a total of 4 runs over 27 offensive innings. Milwaukee’s offense has enough capable bats to generate ample run support for Houser and company. Back the Brewers to notch their 2nd straight win.

MLB: New York Mets vs Philadelphia Phillies ML (-155), 6:45 pm ET
Tonight, the Mets will send Taijuan Walker to the hill, who will be opposed by Ranger Suarez. Walker delivered a 2.66 ERA and a 3.06 FIP during the first half of 2021, but struggled to a 7.13 ERA and a 6.79 FIP across his final 64.1 innings. Per Baseball Savant, Walker owns a dreadful 8.02 FIP and a .410 xwOBA against the current Philadelphia roster. To put it lightly, this is not a favorable matchup for him.
Suarez owned a 1.51 ERA and a 2.35 FIP in 12 starts after being moved into the starting rotation at the end of 2021. However, it is worth mentioning that 9 of those 12 outings came against the Miami Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Washington Nationals. Philadelphia still has a strong offense and the starting pitching advantage in this game. Take them to secure a victory in the series opener.

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees – Over 9 runs (-115), 7:05 pm ET
Toronto has been putting up plenty of runs and the Blue Jays finished 3rd in the MLB last season in runs scored. This season, 2 of their first 3 games have gone over the total, and they have given up even more runs (23) than they’ve scored despite sitting at 2-1. The Yankees should be able to match or exceed the production the Rangers put up against Toronto. Both of these lineups are loaded with power hitters and facing off against the bottom of the rotation and bullpens that are stretched thin. Side with the over.

NHL: Winnipeg Jets ML (-150) vs Montreal Canadiens, 7:05 pm ET
The odds of a Montreal win look slim after starting goaltender Jake Allen sustained an injury in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Toronto, meaning Sam Montembeault will be seeing action for the 2nd straight game. Montreal put up a strong effort against Toronto, but there isn’t as much of a rivalry to get excited for against the Jets. Winnipeg is the more talented roster, and even on the road, they should be able to take down the Canadiens as they look to build on Sunday’s 4-3 win over Ottawa.
