One pick is taken from each sport and a winning ticket gives us a nice payout with odds at +1200 with DraftKings; that’s roughly 12/1! Let’s break down each of these plays.
College Basketball: Illinois Fighting Illini vs Iowa Hawkeyes -3 (-110), 7pm ET
It’s hard to make too strong of a case on either side in this matchup without knowing the status of Iowa’s Keegan Murray, but if Murray is able to go, Iowa is the recommended side. The Iowa offense is still humming to start the year — ranking fifth in offensive efficiency per KenPom. The Hawkeyes also lead the country in offensive turnover rate, which could determine this game. Iowa is such a good offensive team that in order to beat them, you have to score a lot. That means shooting well, but also not turning the ball over. Illinois ranks just 307th in taking care of the ball, so if Iowa simply takes more shots than the Illini, there’s a good chance the Hawkeyes will win the game.

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers vs Charlotte Hornets – Over 219.5 points (-110), 7:10pm ET
The Charlotte Hornets have the worst defensive numbers in the NBA over the last 3 games. They are allowing 129 points during that stretch and just last night, the Hawks shot over 50% against them. Playing at home, they have the 4th-worst opponent-points-per-game average, giving up 111.8.
Philly ranks 11th in offensive rating and only 1 team in the NBA has a worse defensive rating than the Hornets. With them playing at the 2nd-fastest pace in the NBA, we could be in for yet another high-scoring game. The over has cashed in last 6 of the last 7 meetings, while the teams have averaged 229 points in their 3 most recent games. Go with the over.

NFL: New England Patriots vs Buffalo Bills – Under 41 points (-110), 8:15pm ET
The Patriots have allowed more than 13 points just once since October 17. That was in a game against the Chargers in which they still did a great job slowing down Justin Herbert. Josh Allen isn’t playing close to the level he was last year, and opposing defenses have adjusted to this Buffalo passing game.
Just a few weeks ago the Bills managed only 6 points against Jacksonville’s barely-there defense. On the other side, Mac Jones is going on the road in primetime in harsh weather conditions for the biggest game of his young career. I’m not expecting him to light it up. New England is going to be looking to run the ball, as that’s where Buffalo’s defense is most vulnerable. Points are going to be at a premium.

NHL: Arizona Coyotes vs Dallas Stars -1.5 (-115), 8:38pm ET
The Dallas Stars are playing great hockey and they enter this contest riding a 6-game winning streak. They have also been victorious in 8 of their last 9 games, with 6 of those wins coming by multiple goals. Dallas has been much more comfortable on its home ice this season, posting a record of 8-2-1 in such contests. Conversely, the Coyotes have struggled on the road. They are just 3-10-1 away from Arizona.
Overall, the Coyotes are among the worst teams in hockey while the Stars are on a roll. Take the Stars on the -1.5 puck line, as they should be able to win this one in convincing fashion.
