Two picks are taken from each sport and a winning ticket gives us a nice payout with odds at +1258 with DraftKings; that’s more than 12/1! Let’s break down each of these plays.
MLB: New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox – Under 9 runs (-105), 7:10pm ET
Leaning on Gerrit Cole to pitch the Yankees to a win meshes well with an under. The day off for both teams helps them reset their bullpens and all the high-leverage arms will be available in support on both sides. It is going to feel like a playoff game as neither side will concede much.
A game between these very public teams is likely to get bet up too, making the under an even better play. Only 1 of Coles’s 3 starts against Boston went over this season and he gave up 3 homers in that game. A repeat of that is unlikely. Take the under.

MLB: Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Indians – Over 8 runs (-110), 7:10pm ET
The over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these teams. Yesterday’s double-header featured games with 9 and 8 total runs, and that was just through 7 innings of play.
Neither team seems to be having much trouble seeing the ball so far in this series. Dylan Cease has not been as effective on the road, and Shane Bieber is making his first start in 3 months. It’s possible he shows at least a little rust. Take the over.

College Football: Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs Virginia Cavaliers -3.5 (-110), 7pm ET
The 59 points they allowed to North Carolina really skews Virginia’s defensive numbers, but keep in mind Brennan Armstrong threw for 554 yards and 4 scores as well. This is a Virginia team that does not ease off the gas on the offensive side of the ball. The number that stands out for Wake Forest is their -4 turnover differential despite being 3-0. Go with the home team and expect an Armstrong performance of 300 yards and 3 scores.

College Football: Liberty Flames -6.5 (-110) vs Syracuse Orange, 8pm ET
Liberty has a head coach who knows how to develop quarterbacks and he has shown that with Malik Willis. Syracuse lost by 10 to Rutgers, which does not have the quarterback that Liberty does. The Orange do not have the pass rush to pressure Willis and beat Liberty’s offensive line, which should give them plenty of time to throw and score. Syracuse’s backfield is decent this year and should keep good pressure on the receivers but Willis is good enough to find the creases and make good passes for completions.
Liberty is the king of covering the spread. They are 10-0 in their last 10 games, 5-0 in their last 5 road games, and 8-0 in their last 8 games playing as the favorite. Look for Liberty’s quarterback and coach to outplay and outcoach the Orange. Take Liberty to cover.
