The final race before the Summer break for F1 is here. The Hungarian Grand Prix from the Hungaroring will go green on Sunday before the month-long pause of the schedule. For some, this break couldn’t come at a better time while others want to keep their momentum going.

Either way, the 70 laps that make up Round 13 of the 2022 F1 schedule will be exciting and could be quite profitable.

F1 Hungary Grand Prix odds

Below are the odds for the outright winner of the Hungary Grand Prix, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Charles Leclerc (+130)
Max Verstappen (+200)
Carlos Sainz (+400)
Lewis Hamilton (+1200)
George Russell (+2500)
Sergio Perez (+3500)
Lando Norris (+4500)

F1 Hungary Grand Prix betting strategy

The Hungaroring is the second-longest tenured tracks on the schedule for F1, among non-temporary tracks. That means everyone is familiar with the layout and the style of racing that this track produces. It’s a 2.7-mile, 14-turn layout with quite a bit of elevation change. The highest point is near Turn 14 while the lowest is opposite to that. The track has been considered Monaco without the walls and is a high-downforce track where having great balance in the car is very important. There’s only one DRS zone on the track, the front stretch, which could make passing very hard. While Monaco is the most important qualifying session of the year, this one is right up there with Barcelona to set the grid.

Charles Leclerc (+115)

At some point the bad luck has to stop for Leclerc right? Right? He’s had the fastest car basically all year and does again this week. If they can avoid the litany of mistakes they’ve made this year, he should be able to take the 16-car to victory lane and inch closer to Verstappen in the championship battle. Even on medium tires in practice, he was faster than drivers on the soft compound which bodes well for the Scuderia. The other thing to keep in mind is that the cooler weather anticipated on Sunday should help Ferrari as well.

Max Verstappen (+200)

Verstappen has won seven races this year, five of those he’s not started on pole nor led the speed charts in any practice. That seems to be happening again. He was within .3 seconds of Leclerc in both of the first two practices and has simply been using strategy or Ferrari’s mistakes against them in the races. That should be the case again this week. This track is similar to a few of the tracks that Verstappen has already won at in the new car as well.

Lando Norris (+4500)

Huh? A McLaren driver on the list? How is that possible given their season? Well, they’ve come with updates this weekend and they seem to be paying dividends with Norris running no slower than P4 in practice and even up to P2 in FP2. If McLaren and especially Norris hope to make inroads in the constructor and driver standings by the end of the year they have to take advantage of race weekends like this. If reliability issues strike Ferrari, Norris could be there to pounce.
