One of the most popular markets when it comes to NFL betting is the first touchdown scorer of any game. You don’t have sit around for hours and hours while waiting to find out if your bet cashes – unless, of course, the game in question ends up being an epic defensive struggle without any early TDs. Normally these plays hit or miss in a timely fashion. And, of course, they can also be quite lucrative.
It’s time to focus on the best first touchdown scorer NFL prop bets to make for the remainder of the Week 2 slate.

Raiders vs Bills first touchdown scorer pick: Josh Jacobs, RB, LV (+950)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Going to Buffalo is not an easy task for the Raiders, but given how bad the Bills looked in Week 1, I would not be surprised to see the visitors score first…and also frequently. If the Raiders don’t get the ball first and score, Josh Allen has been a turnover machine and could give the ball right back to them – and perhaps in good field position. Whatever the case, I feel good about Jacobs on Sunday. He has a game under his belt following his preseason holdout and should be ready to rock. The Alabama product scored 12 touchdowns in 2022 and may be relied upon to produce even more this season now that Derek Carr is gone.

Bears vs Buccaneers first touchdown scorer pick: Chris Godwin, WR, TB (+1000)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Chicago got off to a disastrous start to the 2023 campaign. Despite playing at home against an unproven quarterback in Jordan Love, the Bears lost to the Packers 38-20. Their passing defense was a significant culprit, as they allowed 237 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air. Godwin, Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay offense as whole should be able to capitalize on this opportunity. In last week’s victory over Minnesota, Godwin caught 5 of 6 targets for 51 yards. That’s nothing special, but it was his first go-around with Mayfield and that connection should only improve in Week 2. When healthy, Godwin has always been an effective red-zone target. That will likely be the case again on Sunday.

49ers vs Rams first touchdown scorer pick: George Kittle, TE, SF (+1000)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
The Rams did well to easily defeat Seattle in Week 1, but they are not supposed to be particularly good this year and now they face a much tougher test in the form of San Francisco. Kittle and company were among the Super Bowl favorites heading into the season and that certainly hasn’t changed following a 30-7 beatdown of Pittsburgh. Kittle didn’t do anything, so I expect Brock Purdy to focus on getting his start tight end involved early. The former Iowa standout scored a ridiculous 7 TDs in the last 4 regular-season games in 2022 and he also found paydirt when the 49ers last visited the Rams.
