If you’re not watching the College Baseball World Series, you should turn it on. Six of the 8 games have been decided by 1 run, and the games have been full of excitement and late-inning rallies. Last night’s LSU and Wake Forest game was incredible, and the games will only get better as we inch closer to the Championship! On Tuesday, TCU and Oral Roberts begin the day with a 2:00 pm ET first pitch in an elimination game and then the night game will feature LSU and Tennessee, which is also an elimination game. Let’s dive into my College Baseball World Series best bet for today’s action.

Oral Roberts +1.5 (-120) over TCU

If this matchup looks familiar, it’s because it just happened. On Day 1 in Omaha, Oral Roberts scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th inning to take the lead and win the game 6-5 over TCU. Blaze Brothers was the hero of the day with a 3-run home run in the 9th, and the Golden Eagles will be looking for their luck to continue with their backs to the wall on Tuesday afternoon. In the elimination game, Oral Roberts will hand the ball to Brooks Fowler, a sophomore who had a 9-1 record and a 3.27 ERA in 16 starts. Of his 16 starts, the Golden Eagles won 15 of them, so he’s a sort of good-luck charm on the mound.
Fowler had a solid year and was excellent all April and May and even lowered his season ERA to 2.60 at the end of May, but a few poor starts leading up to Omaha ballooned his ERA to above 3. His biggest issue recently has been the long ball, since he’s allowed 6 home runs in his last 3 starts. However, he’s allowed just 13 all season, so it’s not like he’s giving up a homer or two each start. All Fowler needs to do is have a decent outing to give the Golden Eagles a chance – he doesn’t need to be great, just good enough to keep the offense in it.
Speaking of Oral Roberts’ offense, can you guess which team has the most hits through 2 games? That would be the Golden Eagles, who have 22 hits against the TCU and Florida pitching staff. That’s more than some of the most potent offenses in the country, like Florida (14), LSU (15) and Tennessee (20). The top half of their order has been incredibly dangerous as the 1-5 hitters combined to go 8-for-21 during their loss to Florida.
On Tuesday afternoon, they will likely face Cam Brown, a junior who is 3-2 with a 5.50 ERA this season. Today’s starter was up for debate for TCU because they’ve been relying on a 2-man rotation in the last few weeks, but due to the short rest period, the Horned Frogs have to throw somebody else. That will likely be Brown, who has made the 3rd most starts on the team this season. But the thing about Brown is that he doesn’t go deep into games and can have major control issues. Brown has completed 4 innings just once in his last 8 starts while surrendering at least 2 walks in 7 of those 8 starts. And in his last 2 outings, he’s allowed 10 walks — not good! Free passes should turn into free runs for Oral Roberts, so I’m once again backing the biggest underdog in Omaha.
