Tottenham -1.5 (+105)

Chelsea ML (-165)

Parlay odds: +983

Aston Villa ML over Bournemouth (+100), 7:30 am ET

Bournemouth sealed their return to the Premier League with a second-place finish in the Championship last season but they could start the new campaign on the back foot at home to Aston Villa.

Cherries head coach Scott Parker has an underwhelming 17% win record in the EPL and the club worked their way out of what was a pretty weak Championship last season.

Aston Villa arguably underachieved last term with a 14th-placed finish despite their big spending, but they have had a full pre-season under Steven Gerrard now and can record a solid road win on the south coast.

Newcastle ML over Nottingham Forest (-155), 10:00 am ET

Following their Saudi-backed takeover last season, many expected Newcastle to splash the cash in their first subsequent summer transfer window but the Magpies have been sensible in the market and are building something promising on Tyneside.

Center-back Sven Botman and goalkeeper Nick Pope should shore up their defense and they can start with a win over newly promoted Nottingham Forest.

Forest have spent well this summer and could have a solid shot at survival but it will take time for their new signings to settle into the team They are worth opposing against Eddie Howe’s side, who picked up 8 of their 13 league wins last season at home.

Tottenham -1.5 over Southampton (+105), 10:00 am ET

There is a lot of excitement around Tottenham heading into the new season with the north London club having brought in Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Ivan Perisic among others, and they could be in for a good campaign under Antonio Conte.

Only Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal picked up more Premier League points at home last season than Spurs, who should run out comfortable winners over Southampton in their opening game.

The Saints had a woeful defense last season, conceding 67 goals, and they lost 10 of their 19 matches on the road.

Their transfer activity has been focused on younger players this summer and the squad looks weak, so back Tottenham -1.5 against the spread.

Chelsea ML over Everton (-155), 12:30 pm ET

Chelsea’s performance in the Florida Cup in pre-season was far from ideal and Thomas Tuchel is clearly not happy with his side right now, but they have enough in their armory to overpower Everton.

Everton finished only 4 points above the relegation zone last season and lost their top goalscorer Richarlison to Tottenham over the summer. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, did not enjoy a particularly good 2021-22 season and their offense looks poor heading into this opener.

Chelsea won 12 of their 19 matches on the road in the league last season and can make a winning start at Everton.
