Dan Campbell and his young team are ready to make a playoff push, and who knows, maybe even win the division for the first time in 3 decades?

Detroit Lions 2022 season recap
Last season was a huge step forward for the Detroit Lions. It wasn’t too long ago that Lions fans were wearing paper bags over their heads to games. But that wasn’t the case in 2022 as the Lions nearly captured their first winning record since 2017. The beginning of the season featured a lot of growing pains between Dan Campbell and his young roster since Detroit won just 1 of their first 8 games. But like the flip of a switch, the Lions completely changed halfway through the season as they won 8 of their final 10 games. Momentum is high entering the 2023 season.

Detroit Lions 2023 NFL season predictions
This is lining up to be a big year for the Lions. In the NFC North, Aaron Rodgers has left the Packers which will send Green Bay into a small rebuild. For the Vikings, Dalvin Cook landed with the Jets and Adam Thielen is now on the Panthers, so several of Kirk Cousins’ favorite weapons are gone. That leaves the Bears, who are expected to be much better than 3-14 this season, but not good enough to challenge Detroit for the division.
Here are a couple of my Detroit Lions-related predictions for the upcoming season.
Best bet: Detroit Lions Over 9.5 Wins (-130)
In my opinion, the NFC North title is between two teams — the Lions and Vikings. The Bears and Packers are average teams that are still a year or two away from putting it all together. So, between Detroit and Minnesota, which is the better team? That’s where I find myself getting pulled towards the Lions since they have an excellent mix of youth and leadership on both sides of the ball. On offense, the Lions have surrounded Jared Goff with reliable weapons that are headlined by rising star Amon-Ra St. Brown. Detroit also has a slightly easier schedule than the Packers this season, so at +140 odds, I like the Lions’ chances of winning their first division title since 1993.
Detroit Lions season record prediction: 10-7
A season with double-digit wins does not seem out of the question this year. After going through Detroit’s 2023 schedule, the outcome I see most likely is a 10-7 season. That record assumes that the Lions can win most of their games within the NFC North which are crucial when considering their out-of-conference games. I’m also very high on Jahmyr Gibbs and what he can bring to this young and dangerous offense. The Lions have incredible potential this season, and I’m buying into Dan Campbell’s team.
