Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Commanders expert picks

We have two great NFL picks for the game between the Cowboys and Commanders.

Cowboys vs Commanders point spread pick: Cowboys -7 (-110)

It’s Week 18 of the NFL season, and we’ve got an NFC East battle between the Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys to discuss. This game means a lot more for Dallas than it does for Washington, as Dallas is still playing for seeding and can win the division, while Washington has already been eliminated. With the playoffs not on the horizon, head coach Ron Rivera opted to go with rookie Sam Howell at quarterback. Howell will be taking the first snaps of his young career, and he is getting thrown to the wolves against this ferocious Cowboys pass-rush. I don’t expect that to go too well. Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke were both under frequent pressure in recent weeks behind Washington’s crumbling offensive line, and I don’t see how they will be able to block up Dallas’s defensive front.

Dak Prescott made it very clear in his press conference this week that Dallas is 100% focused on winning this game, while Washington has already turned their eye to next season. The Commanders are a bit dysfunctional at the moment and appear to be dealing with some internal strife, as media reports emerged this week that a bunch of different players were questioning the play-calling of offensive coordinator Scott Turner. Dallas has won six of their past seven games, with the only loss in that span coming in a close game on the road against a surging Jaguars team. The Cowboys have scored at least 27 points in 9 straight games, and I don’t think Howell will be able to keep pace.

Cowboys vs Commanders over/under totals pick: Under 40 (-110)

The under also makes a lot of sense here, because I do not see Washington scoring much at all. This Commanders offense has already cratered in recent weeks, and now they’re throwing a rookie quarterback with literally no experience out there. Washington hasn’t topped 20 points since all the way back on November 20th, when they scored 23 against the lowly Houston Texans.

This past week against Cleveland, Washington only scored 10 points, and the offensive line has been regressing. Washington’s only chance here is to get the ground game going with Brian Robinson Jr, and with a rookie quarterback under center, I would expect them to be running the ball a ton which will keep the clock churning. Dallas will get out to an early lead and will then be content to pound the rock in the second half. The Cowboys just faced a different inexperienced quarterback last week, and they held Josh Dobbs and the Titans only 13 points.
